Oilers sign talented Russian who's quick and has good size

Anton Slepyshev, a 21-year-old left-winger, bolted for the Edmonton Oilers just before the Iron Curtain falls on Kontinental Hockey League players who may be blocked from leaving Russia until they are 28. Slepyshev played in the 2013 world junior hockey championship with Nail Yakupov and was a teammate last season with former Oilers winger Teemu Hartikainen at Salavat Ufa. He will need some seasoning in the American Hockey League, but the 2013 third-round draft pick may not be that far away from being an NHLer.
