Game 23: Lightning overtake Kings 2-1 in shootout

The Tampa Bay Lightning stood their ground in a close battle against one of the Western Conference's tougher teams, capturing their third straight win. The Lightning knew the Los Angeles Kings would be a competitive opponent heading into Wednesday night’s game. The final score proved it as regulation wasn't enough to decide a winner. Coming down to the shootout, Jonathan Marchessault and Valtteri Filppula both put the puck past Jonathan Quick as Tampa Bay went on to win 2-1. As the Lightning skated away in the winner's circle, it certainly didn't come easy. Especially against one the...

Alex Killorn's PPG ends the Tampa Bay Lightning's goal drought (video)

It was somewhere north of 156 minutes of regulation play, but it's finally over - the Tampa Bay Lightning have lit the lamp.  Assisted by Victor Hedman (his 10th of the season) and Valtteri Filppula' (4), Alex Killorn ended the Lightning's time without a goal late in the 2nd period during a power play. The Lightning trailed the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 after this tally. Their previous goal was scored in Winnipeg against the Jets last Friday -- it was a Overtime winner, so it truly was two full games (plus overtime in Chicago) without a goal.
