Stanley Cup of Chowder — It'll be Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg leading the way for the Bruins if a lengthy playoff run is to be a reality. In the Game 1 win over Toronto, Chara played 23:38 and Seidenberg saw 21:32. Those numbers will only grow. Even last night, they're probably higher if it's not 4-1 after the second period. Despite the excellence this pair will display -- save the bumbling on the first penalty kill of the playoffs -- the four remaining Bruins defensemen need to play consistent, smart hockey. Boston Bruins Blog | ESPN Boston — BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins pulled off a deal just before Wednesday's NHL trade deadline, acquiring veteran defenseman Wade Redden from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2013. The pick will become a sixth-rounder if Redden plays one or more games in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season. Redden joins future Hall of Fame winger Jaromir Jagr as the team's major additions for the stretch run. Redden, 35, will be reunited with former Ottawa Senators teammate and Bruins captain Zdeno Chara.

Patrice Bergeron won a faceoff in the offensive zone back to Zdeno Chara, the Boston captain fed Seidenbergand his shot found its way past goalie Robin Lehner through a maze of players. Daniel Paille also scored for the Bruins (20-6-3), and Anton Khudobin made 27 saves. Kaspars Daugavins scored for Ottawa, and Lehner also stopped 27 shots.
