Flyers 6, Bruins 5: Yeah, we don’t know either

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports Some observations for your morning... Gang. I don’t know. I just don’t know. The Flyers were down 2-0 at the first intermission and looked dead in the water and then somehow it got a little worse. But then! They came back to tie things up 5-5 and force overtime, and then a shootout, and then they hung on long enough to get to Travis Konecny (who scored) and then Brad Marchand (who missed the puck). Do I understand? Absolutely not. Do I still love it? You bet. All stats via Natural Stat Trick. How’d they look out there? 5-on-5: 47 CF, 23 SF, 50.16...

And you said Brad Marchand was a bad guy

And you said Brad Marchand was a bad guy

Photo by Drew Hallowell/ Postgame 1/13 Monday night’s game between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers is a perfect example of why Brad Marchand is actually great for the league. After a crazy entertaining sixty-five minutes of hockey that saw the Flyers erase a 5-2 deficit to be one Marchand vs Carter Hart shootout attempt away from earning the game’s third point, and Marchand puts himself in contention for the Not Top 10 by over-skating the puck out of center ice, ending the game on a walk-off error. If any other player in the league, save Tom Wilson and maybe Matthew...

Slap Shots: Flyers vs Bruins

Heather Barry - Broad Street Hockey / SB Nation NHL © Get a load of all this fun, you guys! The Philadelphia Flyers were back in action against the Boston Bruins and it was certainly a thriller at the Wells Fargo Center. Boston got out to an early 2-0 lead and were completely dominating, but Kevin Hayes would get the Flyers on the board to keep things close. The Bruins responded with a David Pastrnak goal and Travis Sanheim answered that with one of his own. Halfway through the second period, the Bruins would add to their lead and make it 5-2. Things looked dreary, but the Flyers would...

Marchand Overskates Puck in Shootout, Bruins Fall to Flyers

PHILADELPHIA — The Boston Bruins have lost shootouts every which way this season. Brad Marchand found a new one Monday night. Flyers battle all the way back, beat Bruins in shootout thanks to Brad Marchand gaffe

Heather Barry | Heather Barry Travis Konecny was the only goal in the shootout, and Carter Hart turned everything aside on his end to get the extra point in a wild one from the Wells Fargo Center. After a shaky first shift in which the Flyers were flopping all over their own zone like a fish out of water, they settled down a bit trying to match the Bruins’ energy. But surviving the first shift wasn’t much to hang their hat on as the Flyers would surrender the first goal in bad fashion. Philippe Myers was dragged to the net and watched Anders Bjork slide the puck past Carter Hart to...

Preview: Flyers tested yet again with home game against Bruins

Photo by Fred Kfoury III/Icon Sportswire via Goals aren’t going to come any easier this evening. After being shut out by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, the Philadelphia Flyers’ path to scoring goals doesn’t get any easier tonight as the Boston Bruins visit the Wells Fargo Center. Not only do the B’s enter this evening’s contest as the only club in the NHL who haven’t suffered double-digit regulation losses yet with a record of 27-8-11, they also enter allowing the second-fewest goals against per game at a rate of 2.46 with only the Dallas Stars yielding a lower...
