Round One, Game Five Hotstove

Yet more injury talk Tom Pyatt left Game 4 after a nasty hit on his first shift. Assuming he's out for Game 5, who should draw in (and who will, if it's not the same answer)? Peter: Given that Tommy Wingels played in Game One, I think we're likely to see him back for Game Five if Pyatt is indeed out (as I suspect he will be). One thing I'd like about seeing Wingels is his physicality; the Bruins' blue line is inexperienced and guys like Chara and Liles have been playing a lot, so it's been a little frustrating to see so many fly-bys where Sens forwards passed up hits. Wingels likely...

Bruins rally back to stay alive by beating Senators in 2-OT

OTTAWA -- The Bruins survived.Sean Kuraly scored 10 minutes and 19 seconds into the second overtime to beat the Senators 3-2 and narrow Ottawa's lead in the series to 3-2 also. The win in extra frames forced a Game 6 in Boston on Sunday. The Bruins overcame a two-goal deficit in the second period – and then their own egregious mistakes late in the third period – to extend their season to sudden death overtime at Canadian Tire Centre.

Ryan Spooner a scratch for Game 5

OTTAWA--Facing elimination in tonight's Game 5 at the Canadian Tire Center, Bruins' coach Bruce Cassidy has opted to make a fairly notable lineup change. With the B's trailing the Ottawa Senators in the series, 3-1, Cassidy will sit center Ryan Spooner and insert more physical rookie Sean Kuraly in his spot between Frank Vatrano and Tim Schaller. Cassidy said that Spooner is “not 100 percent.” But Spooner participated in the morning skate and Cassidy said he was available if needed. The switch, he conceded, was more about what the rugged Kuraly brings.

Anderson shuts out Bruins, Senators take 3-1 series lead

The Bruins are now on the brink of elimination Everyone had been saying before the game that the Ottawa Senators had staked a 2-1 series lead despite Craig Anderson. Not that Andy had been bad per se, but an .898 save percentage wasn’t up to his season standard. Safe to say he won this one for Ottawa. The first period saw the Senators start poorly. It wasn’t so much that they were flat, but that they seemed to think they were the worse team. They were content to let the Bruins lead the attack, and would use their speed to counter-attack when chances arose. That led to Brad Marchand...

At one point in the second period of Wednesday’s Game 4 between the Bruins and Senators, a rogue beachball landed on the ice during play. If this were either Game 2 or Game 3, there’s a good chance that the beachball would have gone through one of the goalies in this game. But not on […]
