First off, we are under no impression the Ducks would actually take a Russian in the first round. They have not done so since Stanislav Chistov in 2001. Kesler is reportedly attempting to aggressively rehab from the effects of his hip surgery last year. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman in his regular column “31 Thoughts”, there is a chance that Ryan Kesler might not play in the 2018-2019 season.
