Juggling The Lineup

Juggling The Lineup

Or as I like to call it - “Right Wing Roulette” The free agency dust has well and truly settled and with just the two RFAs left unsigned, we can start to play the guessing game as to how the Ducks (and subsequently the Gulls) lines might look this season. Jake and Felix already did a brief dive into this on their most recent podcast and in the interest of not looking like too much of an idiot, my combinations do not differ too much from their thoughts (although they did initially because I completely forgot about Perry - oops). But for all the multitude of depth signings and free agency...

John Gibson Deal a Major Win for Ducks

While not without some risk, Anaheim keeps its franchise goaltender. This weekend, the Anaheim Ducks made a statement about how the organization feels about its goaltending situation. Anaheim announced an eight-year, $51.2 million deal with John Gibson, which will keep the Ducks’ franchise goaltender in town through the 2026-27 season. Gibson has one more year on a three-year, $6.9 million deal before the extension kicks in. The new contract will count for $6.4 million against Anaheim’s salary cap; the deal also includes a modified no-trade clause, which Gibson can specify 10 teams he...

Projecting Henrique: Non-Scoring Discussion Points

Projecting Henrique: Non-Scoring Discussion Points

Can Henriques vaunted two-way play bridge the gap from his solid yet slow scoring rates? Adam Henrique was brought in by the Ducks to bring in some extra scoring and to solidify the center ice position with his overall two-way play behind Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler. In the preceding article, it was determined that Henrique has been a largely consistent, yet inefficient scorer. Whether you as a fan are interested in a player’s individual scoring, or the team’s overall scoring probably determines where you sit with his production and how you view him as a player. That is to say if you...

How a Terrible Turnover Turned into a Smart Montour Extension for Anaheim

How a Terrible Turnover Turned into a Smart Montour Extension for Anaheim

Brandon Montour received a two-year extension to remain with the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, adding some much-needed stability to their defense corps. Turnovers in hockey have an intoxicating effect on perception. They leave a lasting visual in the mind of the observer, serving as a final tipping point for unbridled rage towards a struggling team or player. A turnover by Kevin Bieksa on Feburary 13th, 2018, may have left a visual that tipped Anaheim Ducks’ general manager Bob Murray’s perception of his own team. Already vocally frustrated with his club’s play beforehand, the...

Projecting Adam Henrique Part One: The Offensive Contribution

Projecting Adam Henrique Part One: The Offensive Contribution

With a sky high shooting percentage, what is Henrique likely to bring over the duration of his new deal? Adam Henrique signed a 5 year deal with the Ducks, and while the extension wont kick in until the 2019-2020 season, I thought it might be interesting to attempt to project where that extension might take him by looking at his last 5 seasons. Given my posts of this kind of nature often end up as epic Skyrim length adventures, I thought I might attempt to break them into more managable pieces. In this first post I’ll look into Henriques offensive contributions - by the numbers of...

Adam Henrique Gets a Bump in Pay, and Maybe in Responsibility as Well

Adam Henrique Gets a Bump in Pay, and Maybe in Responsibility as Well

Adam Henrique hit payday with the Anaheim Ducks, but that may come with a spike in responsibility as well. Whether or not he’s capable of that seems to be an open question. The ink has dried, ensuring that Adam Henrique will be an Anaheim Duck well into the foreseeable future. The 28-year old center, fresh off of a successful first season in southern California, signed a five-year, $29.25 million contract earlier in the week which is set to kick in next summer. Out there obviously but Adam Henrique's five-year contract extension carries a 5.825M AAV.— Eric Stephens (@icemancometh)...
