Clippers Snap Losing Streak vs Hawks, 116-103

Clippers Snap Losing Streak vs Hawks, 116-103

Finally, a win. I wasn’t sure if I should write this recap or not. I’ve been particularly mindful of superstition in the last few weeks, as the Clippers’ current 9-game losing streak began with the first game of the season that I was unable to see—and continued through the second, third, fourth, and fifth such games, consecutively (while I was travelling). When I was finally back home and able to catch a game, it was a close loss to the 76ers. I only saw the first half of the Clippers’ game against the Cavaliers, when they were tied at halftime but ultimately lost in overtime. ...

Patrick Beverley Just Had Surgery On His Right Knee, Will Be Out Indefinitely

Patrick Beverley Just Had Surgery On His Right Knee, Will Be Out Indefinitely

This is very bad The Clippers’ hellish season continues, as Adrian Wojnarowski reported this morning that Patrick Beverley had surgery on his right knee back in Los Angeles, and is expected to miss a “significant amount of time”. Beverley missed five games with soreness in his right knee before returning against the Knicks Monday. It is currently unclear whether he needed surgery the whole time, or came back to soon and aggravated the injury, necessitating the surgery. Regardless, Beverley is out indefinitely, and will be joining fellow starting guard Milos Teodosic in street clothes...

Good, Bad, and Ugly: NBA Heading Into Thanksgiving

Good, Bad, and Ugly: NBA Heading Into Thanksgiving

The NBA season is a month old, and standings are starting to solidify. What teams and players have impressed and disappointed over the past two weeks? Good: Boston Celtics: Other teams and players are surging in the NBA right now, but the Celtics deserve to have this section to themselves. Winners of an incredible 16 games in a row, the Celtics give the feeling of a team of destiny this year. Gordon Hayward, possibly their best overall player coming into the season, went down with terrifying ankle injury in their first game, and the only effect it’s had on the Celts is apparently to...

Knicks Send Clippers to Ninth Straight Loss, 107-85

Knicks Send Clippers to Ninth Straight Loss, 107-85

Patrick Beverley returned but the Clippers still sucked. The Clippers’ offense is streaky. It’s prone to ponderousness. Passing activity ceases for long stretches and the players revert to unproductive hero-ball. These are negative qualities. But when added to the Clippers’ unwillingness or inability (or whatever) to play something resembling effective defense, the resulting combination is fatal. That’s how you lose nine in a row. The Clippers couldn’t muster the defense necessary to compensate for their periods of offensive impotence, and the Knicks ran away with victory,...

The Clippers haven’t won since November 1st. The Clippers have an eight-game losing streak. The Clippers haven’t beaten a team from the Eastern Conference this season. The Clippers expect to get Patrick Beverley tonight and hope he changes those other things. Come join the conversation!

Preview: Clippers Hope Beverley Stops the Knicks and the Streak

Preview: Clippers Hope Beverley Stops the Knicks and the Streak

The Clippers get their starting point guard back. Will it be enough? The Big Picture: If you’ve been a fan of the Clippers since before the Blake Griffin-Chris Paul transformation, then this is like old times. If you’re a more recent fan, welcome to the club! You now know what it’s like to root for a bad basketball team. Or, at least, a team capable of very bad basketball for a very long stretch. The Clippers have been missing three starters, and while no one can reasonably say that they’re surprised to see Danilo Gallinari’s breaking body on the sideline, the team can be...

Patrick Beverley Expected to Return Monday Against Knicks

Patrick Beverley Expected to Return Monday Against Knicks

Starting point guard Patrick Beverley is supposed to return for tomorrow’s game in New York— and not a moment too soon Patrick Beverley has missed the last five Clippers’ games (all losses) due to a sore right knee. The good news: he is expected to return tomorrow for the Clippers’ game against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Beverley will return to his duty as the team’s starting point guard, presumably pushing Austin Rivers to shooting guard and Sindarius Thornwell to the bench. Beverley is only averaging 3 assists per game, but he looks to pass the ball a bit more than...

Clippers Drop 8th Game in a Row, Fall to Hornets 102-87

Clippers Drop 8th Game in a Row, Fall to Hornets 102-87

It’s a nightmare that you can’t wake up from. The teams with the two longest losing streaks in the NBA clashed in Charlotte tonight, and the Clippers came out on bottom. The Hornets managed to give their visitors an 8th consecutive loss while breaking a six-game losing streak of their own, led by Kemba Walker’s 26 points and a 16-point, 16-rebound performance by Dwight Howard. Nicolas Batum also made timely plays, finishing with 12 points and 7 assists, and Jeremy Lamb lifted Charlotte’s second unit with 17 points off of the bench. For the Clippers, the game was relatively close...

C.J. Williams Transferred Back to Clippers, Will Join Team in Charlotte

C.J. Williams Transferred Back to Clippers, Will Join Team in Charlotte

Some more bouncing around for the two-way guard. The Clippers have transferred C.J. Williams from the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to a team announcement. Williams is on a two-way contract, which allows the team to send him back and forth between the NBA and G-League so long as he does not exceed 45 days on the NBA roster during the G-League season. The Clippers’ other two-way player, Jamil Wilson, is also on the NBA roster at the moment as the Clippers account for injuries to all three of their perimeter starters: Patrick Beverley, Milos...

Game Preview: Freefalling Clippers Look to Get on Track in Charlotte

Game Preview: Freefalling Clippers Look to Get on Track in Charlotte

It’s not going to be easy on the second night of a back to back. The Clippers are having a bad time. Last night, an over-performing LAC squad decimated by injuries managed to claw their way to a close game down the stretch against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, only to fall by a narrow margin in overtime. It was the 7th straight loss for the Clippers, and all but one of those has been by single digits. This overtime loss, extending the Clippers’ longest losing streak since 2011, may have been enough to discourage a team that has shown resiliency despite missing three...

Clippers fall to Cleveland in OT 118-113, Extend Losing Streak to Seven

The Clippers could not close out on LeBron James and company, losing the first of a five-game road trip in spectacularly heartbreaking fashion. The Los Angeles Clippers lost their seventh game in a row in heartbreaking fashion Friday, falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-113 in overtime. Remarkably, the Clippers managed to lose the match-up despite never trailing Cleveland in all 48 minutes of regulation play. The Clippers were hoping to snap a six-game losing streak, but lost steam at the end of each quarter and in the overtime period, allowing Cleveland to steal the win. The Clippers...

Clippers Send Williams, Johnson to Agua Caliente, Call Up Jamil Wilson

Clippers Send Williams, Johnson to Agua Caliente, Call Up Jamil Wilson

Some third string shuffling between the NBA and G-League Yesterday, the L.A. Clippers announced that they had assigned Brice Johnson to the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario, their NBA G-League affiliate. LAC also transferred two-way player C.J. Williams back to ACCO and pulling Jamil Wilson, their other two-way player, up to the NBA roster. Williams made his NBA debut this week but played only a total of 27 seconds across two games for the Clippers. Wilson has never played in the NBA but seems to be held in higher regard by Doc Rivers’ staff and could have a chance to make his debut...

A good conversation to get ready for tonight’s game For today’s episode, the Locked on Clippers podcast had a special crossover edition with the Locked on Cavaliers podcast, and host Chris Manning. Chris is a good buddy of mine who not only hosts the sister podcast to my show, but is also editor-in-chief of Clips Nation’s sister site FearTheSword.com, which covers the Cavaliers for SBNation. I hope you enjoy the show!
