Report: Mackensie Alexander’s ankle injury not serious

Report: Mackensie Alexander’s ankle injury not serious

A little bit of good news from yesterday In Saturday afternoon’s 14-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Minnesota Vikings suffered no fewer than half a dozen injuries, at least one of which has already been determined to be pretty significant. In a bit of good news, it appears that one of the injuries is not going to be as bad as it potentially could have been. #Vikings CB Mackensie Alexander had an MRI done on his injured ankle this morning. Told it didn’t show anything seriously bleeped up. So that’s good news. Team may update further on sprain, sprain type tomorrow. Sprains...

Stock Market Report: Jaguars

Stock Market Report: Jaguars

There are a lot of players fighting for some respect. If Friday at one of Golf’s Major Championships is referred to as ‘moving day’, where players make a move to make the cut or fade away and go home, then one could argue that the second preseason game is moving day for players trying to either make the roster or hold on to a roster spot in the NFL. First impressions are further confirmed, or guys that might have been fading make a push. Opinions are starting to be formed, and depth charts are starting to be finalized. If you’re not ‘putting it on tape’, the chances of making...

Mike Zimmer says that Cedrick Lang will be going on injured reserve

Mike Zimmer says that Cedrick Lang will be going on injured reserve

And there will probably be more where that came from One of the main stories to come out of the Minnesota Vikings’ 14-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 of preseason action is the injuries that the Vikings suffered during the game. While we don’t know the fate of everyone that was hurt on Saturday, head coach Mike Zimmer has already clarified that one player will definitely be heading to injured reserve. Offensive lineman Cedrick Lang will be heading to IR, Zimmer said in his press conference following Saturday’s game. Lang was injured in the fourth quarter of the game when...

NFL Network goes full “Heidi Game,” cuts off final minutes of Vikings/Jaguars

NFL Network goes full “Heidi Game,” cuts off final minutes of Vikings/Jaguars

It wasn’t over, except in the NFL Network control room When the NFL Network announced earlier in the year that the Week 2 preseason contest between the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars would be featured on their channel, most people. . .including those well outside of the Twin Cities market like myself. . .assumed that it would be the entire game. Not so much. The Jaguars got a go-ahead touchdown from Brandon Wilds to take a 14-10 lead over the Vikings with less than two minutes remaining and the Vikings still holding all three of their time outs. Rather than sticking with...

The NFL’s new helmet rule is going to cost someone a game

The NFL’s new helmet rule is going to cost someone a game

Because nobody seems to know what the hell it actually is When the National Football League announced this offseason that they were going to crack down on defenders leading with their helmets, there were a lot of people scratching their heads. The NFL was pretty vague about the rule, and it didn’t seem like anyone really knew what made a particular hit a foul. Now, on the verge of starting the first regular season with the rule in place, there is still confusion reigning. . .even among the people that are supposed to know what the heck is going on. This is a hit from the fourth quarter of...

Jaguars at Vikings Final Score: Vikings fall in sloppy, penalty-filled game, 14-10

Jaguars at Vikings Final Score: Vikings fall in sloppy, penalty-filled game, 14-10

It was pretty ugly for both sides Of all the preseason games in the history of the National Football League, the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars certainly played in one on Saturday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium. Really, that’s the best way to describe it. The contest was filled with penalties and turnovers and was just generally four quarters of slop overall, but when it was all said and done, the Vikings wound up falling to the Jaguars by a final score of 14-10. The starting offense, after looking incredibly impressive against the Denver Broncos in the preseason opener,...

Jaguars at Vikings Preseason 2018: Second Half Open Thread

Jaguars at Vikings Preseason 2018: Second Half Open Thread

Ugly, ugly first half for the Vikings If there was one word to describe the first half of action between the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars at U.S. Bank Stadium, that word would be “sloppy.” The half was filled with penalties by both teams and overall bad play Neither team accomplished much on their first drive. The Vikings picked up one first down on a Jacksonville penalty, and the Jaguars went three-and-out on their first possession after both Mackensie Alexander and Anthony Barr had an opportunity to intercept the same Blake Bortles pass. The Vikings’ second drive...

Vikings training camp: The bromances continue

Vikings training camp: The bromances continue

This time it was Telvin Smith Sr. and Xavier Rhodes Something that is common among training camp, especially with joint practices are usually two former teammates bonding. Today was another example of that. Former college teammates Xavier Rhodes and Telvin Smith Sr., were able to have some fun with one another in Friday’s joint practice. Who said no fighting ?@telvinsmith50. Wish you a successful season brother. #VikingsandJaguarsjointpractice #nole4life A post shared by Xavier Rhodes (@_xavier29) on Aug 17, 2018 at 9:39am PDT Both Smith and Rhodes attended Florida State...

Vikings are Taking Baby Gloves Approach With Dalvin Cook

Vikings are Taking Baby Gloves Approach With Dalvin Cook

And with preseason injuries already happening, can you blame them? Ever since Dalvin Cook went down with a torn ACL in his left knee against the Detroit Lions last season, the Viking have made sure that Cook has taken his time coming back from his non-contact knee injury. While Cook didn’t play in the Vikings preseason opener against the Denver Broncos or in the team’s night practice he has been involved in training camp, but with limitations. That changed this week the Vikings hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in joint practices and Cook played in 11 on 11 team sessions. He impressed all...

Three things to watch: Vikings vs Jags

It’s preseason game number two for the Vikes It won’t be long until the season is over.
