Monday Open Thread: November 23, 2020

So close Mornin’ everyone, I never like to see the Vikings lose, but to see them lose the way they lost yesterday makes the loss even less easy to swallow. The officiating was horrible, but despite that, the Vikings still almost won the game. They had the lead, and the defense had a chance to hold the lead for the win, but they couldn’t. Then the offense had a chance to come back, but they couldn’t. A win would have the team at .500 and moving up fast toward the top spot in the division, but that didn’t happen. I’m still pi**ed, so I’ll add more tomorrow....

Dallas Cowboys 31, Minnesota Vikings 28: Winning streak ends at three

Dallas Cowboys 31, Minnesota Vikings 28: Winning streak ends at three

Photo by Stephen Maturen/ Well, that sucked The Minnesota Vikings had their opportunities to extend their winning streak to four games and get their record back to .500 after a 1-5 start. However, they failed to get the job done when it mattered most. Andy Dalton’s third touchdown pass of the day, a two-yarder to tight end Dalton Schultz, was enough to give the Cowboys their third win of the season at U.S. Bank Stadium, as they defeated the Vikings by a final score of 31-28. The Cowboys got on the board first in this one, following a sack of Kirk Cousins that saw him...

Photo by Adam Bettcher/ The Vikings trail, but they’re threatening to take the lead Everyone hold up four fingers, because we’re heading to the final quarter of play at U.S. Bank Stadium with your Minnesota Vikings trailing the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 16-14. Minnesota got the ball coming out of the locker room at halftime, and marched down the field for a touchdown. Adam Thielen had the big play on the drive on a 51-yard bomb from Kirk Cousins, and the two of them hooked up for the score from two yards out. Dan Bailey hit the extra point, and just like that...

Photo by Stephen Maturen/ The Vikings now trail as we head into the locker room It’s halftime in Minneapolis, and your Minnesota Vikings now trail the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 16-7 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The second quarter began with the Cowboys in Minnesota territory and driving, but the drive came to a screeching halt when Andy Dalton was picked off by a diving Eric Kendricks to give the ball back to Minnesota. .@EricKendricks54 = best middle linebacker in the NFL : https://t.co/EYGyNNxBPN pic.twitter.com/uxpPSBPXno— Minnesota Vikings (@Vikings) November 22,...

Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings: First quarter recap and second quarter discussion

Photo by Adam Bettcher/ The Vikings have a slim lead We’ve made it through the first quarter at U.S. Bank Stadium, and your Minnesota Vikings lead the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 7-6. The Vikings won the toss and deferred to the second half, giving the Cowboys the football first. The Minnesota defense forced a three-and-out on the first Dallas possession, and got a scare when K.J. Osborn fumbled on the punt return, but the Vikings got on top of the loose ball. After the Vikings picked up a first down, Kirk Cousins dropped back to pass and was sacked on a blitz by...

Moss vs. JJ: A Rookie Season Comparison

Moss vs. JJ: A Rookie Season Comparison

On Thanksgiving day 22 years ago, Randy Moss made a statement: he was the most fearsome wide receiver to ever play the game of football. 22 years, numerous NFL records, and a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction later, he remains just that: the most feared wide receiver the game has ever known. Jerry Rice bests him in key receiving stats based on longevity (he played until age 42), but let’s be clear: any cornerback or defensive coach would rather face Rice than Moss in his prime. Moss was a physical freak. 6’4”, 210 pounds, 4.25” 40, and a posting vertical jumps...

Five Good Questions with Blogging the Boys

We sit down and get some intel from the other side We’re still a little more than 24 hours away from kickoff at U.S. Bank Stadium between the Dallas Cowboys and your Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 NFL action. Cowboys at Vikings: Final injury reports for both teams

Photo by Hannah Foslien/ One significant loss for the purple The final injury reports for both the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys leading up to their game this Sunday are out, and there are some significant names on them for both sides. Let’s do a quicker examination of both reports, starting with the visiting team as we generally do. There still hasn’t been any word as to the nature of the illness that Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence are dealing with, but there’s a chance that it could slow down the Cowboys’ pass rush, which is always a help for...
