Step Up or Step Aside

Step Up or Step Aside

It’s time to find out what the 2018 Washington Redskins are made of. We all understand that the NFL is an up-and-down league. Teams can look like garbage one week and suddenly go toe-to-toe with the league’s best the next—or vice-versa. Just ask the Bills. Or the Packers. Or the Dolphins. Heck, just ask the Dallas Cowboys, who sit at 3-3 after alternating losses and wins over the first month-plus of the NFL season. Dallas scored just eight points in a season-opening defeat at the hands of the same Panthers team the Redskins just beat, yet the Cowboys are also coming off of an...

Tweet of the Day: the Redskins will not play a team that currently has a winning record the rest of the season

The Redskins’ remaining opponents have a combined 20-27 record It’s just a fact: the Redskins will not play a team that currently has a winning record for the remainder of the 2018 season. The combined record of their future opponents is 20-27, with five teams sitting at .500: the Cowboys, Eagles, Titans, Texans, and Jaguars. The Redskins don't play a team that currently has a winning record the entire rest of the season.— Jimmy Kempski (@JimmyKempski) October 19, 2018 While it certainly doesn’t guarantee anything for Washington, the Redskins will face an eminently...

The NFL Trade Deadline is Approaching - Will the Redskins Make a Move?

The NFL Trade Deadline is Approaching - Will the Redskins Make a Move?

The deadline to consummate a trade ends on Tuesday, October 30th at 4pm. Trades in the NFL are not very common mid-season, but they can and do happen. Last year, there were five trades before the deadline, with the biggest name being Jimmy Garoppolo, who went from the Patriots to 49ers. Will the Redskins be in the market for a new player via trade? Some names being floated around that may be able to help the Redskins are listed below: Amari Cooper (24) 6’1” 210: The Redskins need help at wide receiver. Cooper has the ability to stretch the field vertically, and is excellent with the...

The 5 O’Clock Club: Thinking about Hogs Haven

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere… The 5 o’clock club is published Wednesday to Saturday during the season, and aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below. I found myself thinking this week about the role that Hogs Haven plays in the lives of so many Redskins fans. This was driven by the fact that, with the Eagles and Giants playing on Thursday, and the Cowboys playing a late game, and all three division rivals having struggled in the early part...

Jamison Crowder expected to miss several weeks with ankle injury, Redskins sign Jehu Chesson

More missed time for Crowder Jamison Crowder missed last week with an ankle injury he suffered on Monday Night Football against the Saints. Gruden said he was iffy to play this week for the Cowboys. Ian Rapoport is reporting Crowder will likely miss a few weeks with the sprained ankle, but the MRI results show the injury shouldn't be long-term. Crowder was seen in a boot today, using a medical scooter to get around the locker room. WR Jamison Crowder was on a scooter with a boot on his right foot this afternoon. Start ‘em and Sit ‘em: Fantasy Plays for week 7

A look at some key fantasy guys to play and avoid this week in fantasy football Thursday Night Game: Denver Broncos: With multiple QBs on bye this week you might be looking for a streaming option this week. While not the best potential option, Keenum should have a solid floor in a game versus a struggling Cardinals secondary. Keenum is coming off back-to-back 300 yard and 2 TD weeks. He doesn’t have the upside for a monster game in this match-up but he should be solid. Emmanuel Sanders is the top receiving option, but Demaryius Thomas is definitely playable here. If you are really...

Caption This!: Who Brought The Marshmallows?

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a great caption is priceless. It’s Dallas week. There’s certainly never been much love lost between the Redskins, the Cowboys, and both of their fanbases. The Washington faithful showed their competitive fire against in a 37-7 victory at RFK Stadium in December of 1996. Would the Redskins be Better with a Bigger Slot Receiver?

Would the Redskins be Better with a Bigger Slot Receiver?

Jamison Crowder’s contract is up at the end of this season. Currently, he’s on the injury report and is unlikely to play yet again this weekend against the Cowboys. The question I have is would the Redskins be better off moving to a big, more physical slot receiver in the future? I have seen teams recently move bigger WR’s to the slot to take advantage of mismatches. Below are some prominent “Big” receivers who spent at least 50 percent of their snaps last year in the slot. 2017 Percentage lined up in the slot: Allen Hurns: 83.6 Robert Woods: 83.1 Larry Fitzgerald: ...

Daily Slop: Jay Gruden trying to get handle on roller-coaster Redskins; Crowder unlikely to play vs. Cowboys

A collection of Redskins articles from around the web I wanted to take a moment this morning to remember our friend Rich Tandler, who most all of you know by now passed away suddenly Tuesday at the age of 63. Rich was not only an inspiration to all of us fans who ever wanted to make it in the cut-throat world of journalism, he was also a genuinely nice person who I had the honor of meeting on multiple occasions. Tandler’s post’s, including his daily “Need to know’s” have been a staple of the ‘Slop’ ever since I started doing the slot back in...
