Texas Rangers Week 12 Recap: Winning on the Road and Coming Home with Injuries

Texas Rangers Week 12 Recap: Winning on the Road and Coming Home with Injuries

A winning road trip for the Rangers, and some banged-up players Season record: 38-33 Week 12 record: 4-3 Series record: 12-5, 6 splits The Rangers have had a weird season with injuries. Almost every time a player has come back from an injury, we’ve had the talk of “Well I guess the Rangers will have to choose between Forsythe and Santana.” And every time, they’ve gotten out of making that decision, mostly because of another timely injury. Obviously, we don’t want any of them to be injured and we’d all want them to never be injured but that’s not gonna be the case. And sense...

LSB Mid-Season Community Prospect Rankings — #1

Who is the #1 prospect in the LSB Mid-Season Community Prospect Rankings? Today, we kick off the LSB Mid-Season Community Prospect Rankings. The rules for the mid-season prospect rankings are that players have to be prospect-eligible, and they have to have not had significant major league time this season. Thus, Taylor Hearn and Joe Palumbo are eligible to be voted on, but not Kyle Bird or Brett Martin. In addition, 2019 draftees are eligible. Our offseason final rankings can be checked out here. So who is the #1 prospect in the Rangers farm system right now? Cast your vote below...

Thoughts on an 11-3 Rangers loss

Thoughts on an 11-3 Rangers loss

Reds 11, Rangers 3 Red Sox 11, Rangers 3 That game was pretty terrible. Ariel Jurado, who has been one of the really good stories of the early going, got hit hard early and often. He ended up getting pulled in the top of the fourth after being unable to retire any of the first three hitters he faced that inning, then saw Peter Fairbanks allow the runner Jurado left on base to score when he gave up a home run to Yasiel Puig. Final line was 3 IP, 9 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk, 0 Ks. These games happen, and Jurado still has a 4.23 ERA on the season, which is good. If Jurado can keep his ERA...

38-33 - Rangers disappoint their fathers with 11-3 finale loss to Reds

38-33 - Rangers disappoint their fathers with 11-3 finale loss to Reds

The end of the road trip turned nightmarish for Texas In something of a proof of wild card contender concept road trip for the Rangers, things were working out really nicely. Texas split a series in Boston that they easily could have won but in doing so showed that they could hang on the road against one of the teams in the league with expectations attached to them. Then Texas went to Cincinnati and took the first two games without much issue and came into today’s game with a chance to sweep. Overall, yes, Texas will head home with their first winning road trip of the season but things...

Hunter Pence leaves game with leg injury

Hunter Pence left today’s game in the fifth inning with an apparent leg injury Texas Rangers outfielder left today’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in the top of the fifth inning with what appeared to be a leg injury. Pence pulled up lame while running after a ball that went for a ground rule double. To replace Pence, the Rangers moved Danny Santana from shortstop to right field, moved Logan Forsythe from third base to shortstop, and put Asdrubal Cabrera into the game at third base. The Rangers were already missing Nomar Mazara, who was out Sunday with a tight hamstring that he was...

38-32 - Behind sweet swingin’ Jeff Mathis, Rangers hang on to secure series win over Cincinnati

38-32 - Behind sweet swingin’ Jeff Mathis, Rangers hang on to secure series win over Cincinnati

With the win, the Rangers go into Sunday’s game with a chance to sweep the Reds The Texas Rangers were winners again tonight even as they made it a little harder on themselves than it appeared it would be in the early innings. Texas took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and scored another pair of runs in the top of the fourth. It looked like the Rangers were set to cruise to another win and secure a winning road trip as starter Mike Minor didn’t allow a hit through the first three innings. In the bottom of the fourth, however, that first Reds hit ended up being a two-run shot off the...

Nomar Mazara leaves game with right hamstring tightness

Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara left today’s game in the 7th inning due to right hamstring tightness Texas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara left tonight’s game in the 7th inning due to what the team says was a precautionary measure due to right hamstring tightness. To replace him, the Rangers moved Danny Santana right field from center field and put Delino DeShields into the game at center. Mazara leaving the game as a precautionary measure could be no big deal, and with the Rangers finishing their series in Cincinnati tomorrow with one more game with no DH, it could be they give him...

Yankees acquiring Edwin Encarnacion, per reports

The Seattle Mariners are reportedly dealing Edwin Encarnacion to the Yankees MLB Trade Rumors: The New York Yankees have acquired Edwin Encarnacion from the Seattle Mariners, according to both Jeff Passan and Ken Rosenthal on Twitter, who each tweeted the news almost simultaneously.
