It hasn’t been a crazy week on the recruiting trail for the Michigan Wolverines, but there are still a couple big stories to talk about, so let’s dive right in. Michigan “definitely” moved up 2019 5-star OL Devontae Dobbs’s leaderboard In an interview with The Michigan Insider’s Josh Newkirk ($) at the Elite Big Man Camp in Farmington, Michigan, in-state 2019 five-star offensive lineman Devontae...

Tuesday Morning Brews: The winding road

Moving ahead so life won’t pass me by Happy Tuesday, folks. Welcome to Morning Brews. Today we’re talking recruiting. Not so much who signed what recruit, but who won what state. We’re also checking in with hockey and wrestling this morning, who both beat up on Michigan State this weekend. Let’s get to it: Alex Kirchner, SB Nation Michigan recruited Michigan the best, which is better than the alternative National Signing Day has come and gone, and the bow is pretty much on the 2018 recruiting class. All of the 247 Composite’s Top-100 prospects in the class...

Mel Kiper has Michigan as a top 6 team next season if Shea Patterson is eligible

HOT TAKE INCOMING! ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. isn’t typically one to comment on this kind of stuff, but he did it anyway. And I think Michigan fans may be happy with what he had to say. Kiper and SEC Network anchor Dari Nowkhah host a radio show together simply entitled “Dari and Mel” and put together their individual lists of the top six teams in college football for next season. Mel came out guns blazing with his No. 6 team — the Michigan Wolverines. But the reason he chose Michigan is because of one player. “I’m gonna throw in a player that is critical to whether...

Despite a rough start to the week on the road at Northwestern, the Michigan Wolverines basketball team was able to finish on a high note and knock off Wisconsin on the road yesterday. The strong finish helped Michigan secure a spot in the Associated Press’ top 25 for a fifth straight week. AP POLL ALERT: @UVAMensHoops rises to No. 1 in AP Top 25 for first time in more than 35 years; @MSU_Basketball climbs to No. 2. Jim Harbaugh and his staff will be heavily targeting these 2019 players

Jim Harbaugh and his staff will be heavily targeting these 2019 players

There is a chance Michigan could have a loaded class in 2019, similar to the 2016 and 2017 classes. Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff swung and missed on a lot of players in the 2018 class. Nicholas Petit-Frere, Jarrett Patterson, Eyabi Anoma, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Tyler Friday, the list goes on. It’s rough to lose out on these guys, especially when a lot of those guys were at positions of need for Michigan. Because of the lack of fireworks in the 2018 class, Harbaugh and his staff are going to have to work wonders on the recruiting trail for the 2019 class. There are a few guys in...

Wagner, Wolverines earn big road win at Wisconsin

Wagner, Wolverines earn big road win at Wisconsin

Michigan led 17-2 at one point. Yep, it was one of those games where the Wolverines were on fire shooting the ball. Coming off a road lost to Northwestern on Tuesday, Michigan was in need of a big bounce-back performance this afternoon at Wisconsin. And boy, did the Wolverines do just that. The Wolverines hit 45 percent of their three-pointers and 56 percent from the field en route to a 83-72 victory over the Badgers. Junior Moritz Wagner led the way for the Wolverines once again with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Fifth-year senior Duncan Robinson, who played in place of the injured Isaiah...

Meet new Michigan receiver Mike Geraci: “They have been very excited about me”

A tall and physical receiver from New Jersey With safeties coach/special teams coordinator Chris Patridge on the staff, the Michigan Wolverines have been heavily recruiting in New Jersey the past few seasons. This led Don Bosco Prep receiver Mike Geraci receiving a preferred walk-on offer by U-M. The 6-2 180 pound receiver spoke with Maize ‘n’ Brew last week about is offer, who recruited him, how he can fit in at Michigan, and other questions. Q&A with Mike Geraci Who recruited you the most? “Coach Hastings, Coach Partridge, and Coach Mattison were my biggest recruiters.” What was...

Q&A with Michigan quarterback, PWO Kyle Grady

Q&A with Michigan quarterback, PWO Kyle Grady

Grady is an athlete looking to make his presence known While the focus at the quarterback position in regards to the 2018 Michigan recruiting class has been on Joe Milton, there’s another commit who is vying for a shot to compete. San Diego product, Point Loma High School quarterback Kyle Grady is an under the radar name who is hoping to make the quarterback competition interesting. Grady is a preferred walk-on. The 6-3 175 lb quarterback is a dual-threat athlete rushed for 525 yards and 8 touchdowns last season, while throwing for 1,249 yards and 12 touchdowns. Grady could very well wind...

Meet Michael Barrett, Michigan’s secret weapon

Pass. Run. Catch. Return. Meet Michael Barrett. The 2018 Michigan recruiting class featured a highly intriguing player out of the state of Georgia, Michael Barrett. The 5-11 215 pound high school quarterback rushed for 2,647 yards and 38 touchdowns in his career, while throwing for over 4,000 yards and 46 touchdowns. Barrett was the Georgia 7-A Player of the Year. Barrett will be used as far more than a quarterback at Michigan. According to Jim Harbaugh, the athlete will be used at running back and wide receiver as well. While Barrett may have been deemed a three star recruit, his talent...
