Titans squeak past Browns in OT, 12-9

Titans squeak past Browns in OT, 12-9

Whew! Well, that was entirely too close. The Titans escaped this one, but it wasn’t convincing at all. Here’s how it happened. In a sleepy first half of football, the Titans and Browns traded field goals. Neither offense really got anything established as each run defense stood tall. Coming into the game, the Titans had a clear advantage in the passing game with Jason McCourty out for Cleveland. Tennessee chose to attack on the ground though, to limited first half success. The Titans were able to get close twice, but couldn’t close the deal. Ryan Succop added two field goals to give...

NFL Inactives: Titans-Browns

Here’s who is playing today. Huge news for the Browns today as Jason McCourty won’t play. McCourty is in the middle of a career season, currently slated as PFF’s number one cornerback. We won’t see Jabrill Peppers today either. After starting last week, Kevin Hogan is inactive this week with a rib injury. Titans vs. Brown preview: 5 questions with Dawgs by Nature

Titans vs. Brown preview: 5 questions with Dawgs by Nature

Chris Pokorny of Dawgs by Nature was nice enough to answer 5 questions about his Cleveland Browns heading into today’s game. He shared his thoughts on a couple of former Titans as well as his thoughts on the Browns quarterback carousel. 1. You have a couple of former Titans in Jason McCourty and Kenny Britt. It seems like they are having very different seasons. McCourty has been great according to PFF. What have you seen from him so far? Even though it's a limited sample size, through six games, one could argue that Jason McCourty has been the team's best cornerback since returning to the...

DeMarco Murray and Delanie Walker both expected to play for Titans vs. Browns

DeMarco Murray and Delanie Walker both expected to play for Titans vs. Browns

Adam Schefter is reporting this morning that both DeMarco Murray and Delanie Walker are expected to play for the Tennessee Titans in Cleveland vs. the Browns. Both guys were listed as questionable on the final injury report- Murray was a hamstring injury that has bothered him since August, and Walker with a calf injury that popped up this week. It is obviously good news for the Titans to have both of these guys in their arsenal. However, with the fact that DeMarco has been battling this injury since training camp, it seems like it would make a lot of sense for him to sit this week and then...

Titans Fan Guide: Saturday Speed Edition

Titans Fan Guide: Saturday Speed Edition

#10 Oklahoma State at Texas NOON ABC - Texas completes its 2017 tour of Oklahoma by hosting yet another high powered offense in the form of the Cowboys. The Longhorns came within a few plays of upsetting the Sooners last week behind the arm of freshman QB Sam Ehlinger. Okie State features two Heisman contenders in WR James Washington and QB Mason Rudolph. Can the Horns keep up with a mighty offense? There have been signs this year that the program is turning around. The Cowboys are on the periphery of the playoff chase, losing only to fourth ranked TCU. Oklahoma State prospects to watch 1....

Delanie Walker, DeMarco Murray injury updates: It’s not looking good for either guy

Delanie Walker, DeMarco Murray injury updates: It’s not looking good for either guy

DeMarco Murray returned to Titans practice on a limited basis on Friday. He is questionable for the game against the Browns on Sunday. Murray said after practice that they will test the hamstring before the game on Sunday to see if he can go. My guess is that he will be out. Delanie Walker missed practice today after being limited yesterday. This one is making me nervous. It’s never good when injuries pop up during the week. Jonnu Smith has a great match-up here if Walker is out. Delanie is listed as questionable. Derrick Morgan is the other guy we have been watching all week. He is also...

Titans vs. Browns: Reasons For Confidence And Concern

Titans vs. Browns: Reasons For Confidence And Concern

Can the Titans keep the Browns winless? WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, that feeling when the Titans beat the Colts was just as sweet as I pictured it. Marcus Mariota was incredible, Derrick Henry looked fantastic, Eric Decker is starting to get comfortable, and the Titans are winning against divisional opponents. If Corey Davis is able to make a significant impact this season, it will be tough to stop this offense. However, before getting too ahead of myself, it’s time to focus on this Sunday’s matchup: Reasons For Confidence: Turnovers, Delanie Walker, Pass Game Turnovers: The...

So Jason McCourty has been really good in Cleveland

So Jason McCourty has been really good in Cleveland

Maybe we should have kept him around.... Jason McCourty is having a great year for the Cleveland Browns. In fact, if you could inject Titans GM Jon Robinson with truth serum, he would tell you that he didn’t think McCourty had anything left in the tank, and that if he knew that he did there is no way the Titans would have let him go this offseason. Just how good has Jason McCourty been? As we discussed on the podcast (listen here), he has been excellent this year. In fact, he shadowed both A.J. Green and DeAndre Hopkins. Green caught 2 passes for 31 yards on 3 targets. Hopkins caught 2...

Chiefs vs. Raiders open game thread

Chiefs vs. Raiders open game thread

We have another good Thursday Night Football game tonight between the Chiefs and Raiders. You know that I love Amari Cooper. He has been struggling this season, BUT TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT THAT ENDS...at least I really hope so because 2 weeks ago I traded Larry Fitzgerald for him in my fantasy football league. I felt like it was a steal. It hasn’t worked out that way just yet. Use this thread to discuss the game.

Titans have the 2nd worst defense in the NFL per PFF

Titans have the 2nd worst defense in the NFL per PFF

The Titans still have a lot of room for improvement on defense. We all know that, but just how much? Well according to Pro Football Focus they have been the second worst defense in the NFL through 6 weeks. Here is what PFF had to say about them: The Titans began the season well, but have allowed big days to some questionable offenses, including getting eviscerated by Houston Texans quarterback, Deshaun Watson. The talent is there for this unit to improve, as some of their better players have had uncharacteristically slow starts to the season, and much rests on the development of Adoree’...

DeMarco Murray injury update: Titans running back misses practice again Thursday

DeMarco Murray injury update: Titans running back misses practice again Thursday

Titans running back DeMarco Murray missed practice for the 2nd straight day today with a hamstring issue. This doesn’t rule him out. He also missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday before the Seattle game. He went on to rush for 115 yards in that game (with 75 of those yards coming on 1 touchdown run). We will have a pretty good idea of Murray’s status after practice tomorrow. Mike Mularkey did mention they would call Khlafani Muhammad up from the practice squad if Murray can’t go. Derrick Morgan was able to practice on a limited basis today. That is progress from yesterday when he...

Will you get Titans-Browns on your TV Sunday?

Will you get Titans-Browns on your TV Sunday?

The Titans are back to the Spero Dedes/Adam Archuleta treatment this week when they travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns. That is probably more of a commentary on the Browns than the Titans, but it will be nice when Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are back on the call. ASIDE: How good is Tony Romo in the booth? Answer: A million times better than Jon Gruden. That early slate on CBS is pretty brutal. Here is the CBS late slate: The game we get here is Cincinnati at Pittsburgh. It will be a good chance to see two teams the Titans will be playing shortly after the bye week...

Marcus Mariota was the best quarterback in the NFL week 6 (and always)

Marcus Mariota was the best quarterback in the NFL week 6 (and always)

Marcus Mariota was better than great in the win over the Colts- especially when you consider that he wasn’t anywhere close to 100%. Jon Gruden beat into our heads how he couldn’t run in that game but didn’t spend much time talking about how having a bad leg could affect throwing the football. That should have been the story. But of course it didn’t affect MariGOATa. Here are some numbers about his performance from Pro Football Focus: Elite Stat: Marcus Mariota’s adjusted completion percentage was 77.4 percenton Monday night. In what wasn’t a vintage week for quarterback...

The Titans should have signed A.J. Bouye this offseason

The Titans should have signed A.J. Bouye this offseason

Jon Robinson has made a lot of great moves as the general manager of the Titans. The one move that he should have made this offseason was signing A.J. Bouye. The biggest weakness the Titans still have is the secondary. Think about how good this secondary would be with Bouye and Logan Ryan on the outside and Adoree Jackson in the slot. Signing Bouye also would have weakened that Jaguars secondary that is one of the best in the league. The combination of Bouye and Jalen Ramsey in Jacksonville is going to cause headaches for the Titans for the next few years. You can’t argue with very much...
