Rinne, are you okay? So, Rinne are you okay? Are you okay, Rinne? Nashville Predators News & Notes Predators goalie Pekka Rinne placed on injured reserve, Svoboda called up | TennesseanAt least 3 games without Pekka Rinne? Not ideal. Not ideal at all. Rinaldo gets winner as Predators top Flames | TSNI know we’re only 8 games into the regular season, but Zac Rinaldo has proved quite a few people wrong so far (myself definitely included). Nashville Predators 3, Edmonton Oilers 0: Saros Perfect, Three Score in Edmonton

Nashville Predators 3, Edmonton Oilers 0: Saros Perfect, Three Score in Edmonton

The Preds might own this city. The Nashville Predators returned to Edmonton, where they’ve had some success over the past few years, to face a hot Oilers team which has finally also figured out how to score goals that Connor McDavid didn’t cause. The Predators entered without Pekka Rinne, who was placed on the injured reserve this morning, leaving Juuse Saros to start. Fan favorite Frédérick Gaudreau also drew into the lineup, in his case in place of Miikka Salomäki. One of these changes went better than the other, as Gaudreau was completely invisible throughout the game. Kyle Turris...

Nashville Predators @ Edmonton Oilers: Stop McDavid

Nashville Predators @ Edmonton Oilers: Stop McDavid

Predators continue western Canada road trip tonight in Edmonton. After defeating the Calgary Flames by a scoreline of 5-3 last night at the Saddledome, the Nashville Predators (6-1-0) look to sweep their way though Alberta and pick up another win tonight against the Edmonton Oilers (3-2-0). To the surprise of nobody, Connor McDavid has been the catalyst for this Oilers team, piling up point after point. On the other hand, the Predators are much more of a team scoring by commission, with every Predator except Frederick Gaudreau already picking up at least one point. Which strategy will win...

Predators Recall Goaltender Miroslav Svoboda from Atlanta

Predators Recall Goaltender Miroslav Svoboda from Atlanta

The Czech will make the leap from the ECHL to the NHL. The Nashville Predators have recalled goaltender Miroslav Svoboda from the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL. It appears that Pekka Rinne’s injury on Friday evening was serious enough to force the recall of Svoboda to back up Juuse Saros, at least temporarily. Svoboda was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Nashville organization on April 26th of this year. He was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers—tonight’s opponent—208th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft but never signed. Check out more on his playing...

Nashville Predators 5, Calgary Flames 3: Rinne injured, Fiala scores in roller-coaster victory

Nashville Predators 5, Calgary Flames 3: Rinne injured, Fiala scores in roller-coaster victory

Also, the Zac Rinaldo GWG we all definitely predicted going into tonight. A little over a week ago, the Predators raised some banners, then faced the Calgary Flames. It went...poorly. Mike Smith saved 43 of 43 shots. Tonight was an early chance at redemption in the Scotiabank Saddledome, where the Flames, who hadn’t lost a home game yet, hosted the Preds, who hadn’t lost a road game yet. Two records entered; one record left. Ryan Johansen got the game’s first goal on the game’s first shot, 51 seconds in. The rest of the first ten minutes featured no additional goals but a lot of...

Central Division News: Week Two

Central Division News: Week Two

It’s been a busy week around the Central. Wait, that’s every week. One fortnight gone! Standings: NHL.com Who’s Hot: As Nick said in his recap earlier this morning, the Nashville Predators are going to be fighting fire with fire when they play the Calgary Flames tonight. They’re the only team in the Central currently on a multi-game winning streak; let’s see if they can stretch that streak for another game. Who’s Not: I had this great joke about the weather in the Twin Cities all ready earlier this week, but it’s actually pretty warm up there right now,...

Nashville Predators @ Calgary Flames: Fighting Fire With Fire

The Preds seek revenge against the only team to beat them so far this season. After a strong finish to a homestand that kicked off with a shutout loss in the home opener against the Calgary Flames (4-2-0), the Nashville Predators (5-1-0) head out to southern Alberta as they look to kick off a two-game road trip to the Canadian province with a revenge win. The Calgary Flames The Flames improved to a 4-2-0 record with a 5-2 home win over the Boston Bruins on the same day that Canada legalized marijuana. They’ve been very much reliant on their offense through the early going this season,...

Friday’s Dump & Chase: Ring of Fire

Well, Rink of Flames, maybe, but who will start in net tonight? Nashville Predators News Preds Confident in Preparations as First Back-to-Back Set ArrivesA lot of this article is just praise for the Nashville Predators goalie tandem of Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros. The question on my mind is who starts which game? The Predators have a win streak going on against the Edmonton Oilers, so it seems Rinne would be a natural fit for this. Couple that with the fact that Connor McDavid's magic wand doesn't really work against Rinne like it does against other goalies and it seems like a sure thing....
