2018 NFC West Pre-Season Position Rankings: Defense

2018 NFC West Pre-Season Position Rankings: Defense

Ranking the defenses in the NFC West. I appreciated and agreed with many of your comments about the offensive rankings. While I believe that RB David Johnson is as talented as any RB in the NFL, it was difficult to rank him ahead of RB Todd Gurley who had over 2,000 yards combined (rushing and receiving and 19 TDs in 2017---the kind of season Cardinals’ fans were hoping to get from David Johnson. A few of you were arguing that G D.J. Fluker (SEA) should be rated higher than G Jonathan Cooper (SF), and while I agree that Fluker might be more physcially talented, Fluker’s 2017 PFF grade...

Sam Bradford can be a bridge to somewhere for the Arizona Cardinals

Sam Bradford can be a bridge to somewhere for the Arizona Cardinals

Bradford is a bridge quarterback, but he can help the Cardinals get to where they want to be. Heading into the 2018 season for the Arizona Cardinals, Sam Bradford is the starting quarterback, this has been the statement of Head Coach Steve Wilks: “I’ve stated this several times: Sam Bradford is our starter,” head coach Steve Wilks told NFL Network’s Omar Ruiz during minicamp. The illusion of Josh Rosen starting is always a good one to have, and the reality is he likely will with Bradford's health, but Bradford is not a pushover as a starter. As Bleacher Report points out: Bradford...

Brandon Williams projected starter opposite Patrick Peterson according to NFL.com

Brandon Williams projected starter opposite Patrick Peterson according to NFL.com

NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal projects Brandon Williams as the starter opposite Patrick Peterson, which would be huge for the Cardinals. There is not a bigger storyline to follow for the Arizona Cardinals than who is going to start opposite Patrick Peterson at cornerback. The names have changed nearly yearly since 2011, when Peterson was drafted fifth overall. The lack of investment from Rod Graves to Steve Keim for a long term starter has been an achilles heel of the team. Yet, according to NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal, who is projecting the starters for every team post NFL Draft, the...

Tuesday Night Open Thread: Strange Fantasy Football Leagues

Tuesday Night Open Thread: Strange Fantasy Football Leagues

What is the strangest fantasy football league you are a part of? Happy Tuesday night one and all. The summer blues are upon us from a football perspective, but that doesn’t mean we have to be sad. No, instead we can talk about… anything. For instance, I’m in a complex dynasty, Devy, IDP football league. We just finished our regular draft and are on to our Devy draft. The first picks: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State J.K. Dobbins, RB, Ohio State A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss Why, because the already drafted list is incredibly long. We each get to pick an...

2018 NFC West Pre-Season Position Rankings: Offense

2018 NFC West Pre-Season Position Rankings: Offense

Ranking the starters for the NFC West. ESPN Insider just wrote an article that projects the starting lineups of each NFC West team. Here are the projections with my own assessment of how they rank by position. Note: I ranked projected rookie starters last, seeing as they have not taken a snap yet in an NFL game. Thus, these rankings aren’t purely on talent, they also factor in experience and production. QB: 1---Russell Wilson (SEA)2T---Sam Bradford (ARI)2T---Jimmy Garoppolo (SF)2T---Jared Goff (LAR) Here I have Russell Wilson #1 and a healthy Sam Bradford tied for #2 with Jimmy Garoppolo...

Werk Class of 2018 #RookiePremiere pic.twitter.com/XIbVMHWXiJ— NFLPA (@NFLPA) May 19, 2018 It was a big event that saw Josh Rosen and Christian Kirk getting a shot to schmooze and rub elbows with some of their fellow top 2018 picks. It was a chance to put the pads and the uniform on for Rosen and Kirk, but the way the two reacted was notably different. Rosen, as we talked about earlier today, is all business...

Arizona Cardinals get big cap relief in Jamar Taylor restructure per report

Arizona Cardinals get big cap relief in Jamar Taylor restructure per report

The Cardinals get a lot of money off the books for 2018 with Jamar Taylor's restructure. When Steve Keim made the move for Jamar Taylor it was for little compensation on the end of the Cleveland Browns, it looked like a great deal for the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals received a talented cornerback who projects as a suitable CB2 with the reality that he is better served as a CB3 if one of a plethora of other options perform and step up to be the starting cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson. Then, Field Yates gave us even more reason that Steve Keim made this deal: Source: the in the...

Arizona Cardinals release cornerback Marcus Williams

The Arizona Cardinals continue to churn their roster. When the Arizona Cardinals traded for cornerback Jamar Taylor, it meant that someone soon was going to get the axe. Who that would be, we would have to wait and see. Now, after their first round of OTA’s, they have made that decision and released recently signed cornerback Marcus Williams.

Johnson and Johnson

Johnson and Johnson

The Auspicious Return of the Cardinals’ Dual-Threat RB/WR At the 2015 NFL Combine, David Johnson was the star performer of the RBs---posting a 4.5 40, 25 reps at 225, an eye-popping 41.5” vertical, 127” in the broad jump and a nifty 6.82 time in the 3 cone---all of this at 6-1, 225 pounds. As was well documented on All or Nothing, the Cardinals had their eyes set on taking Ameer Abdullah in round 2, but, after they were beat to the punch by the Lions, the Cardinals opted instead for David Johnson in round 3. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com had Johnson rated the #8 RB in his class behind...

Sunday Night Open Thread: Biggest Need Remaining for the Arizona Cardinals

What do you think is the Cardinals biggest remaining need? Happy Sunday one and all. As we venture into the quiet time of the NFL season, the Arizona Cardinals are ready to get to work. The Cardinals still have some needs though, despite all the moves they have made. What do you think is the Cardinals biggest need after the Jamar Taylor trade? David Johnson is still one of the top fantasy choices in 2018

David Johnson is still one of the top fantasy choices in 2018

Despite missing all of 2017, David Johnson is still a top three fantasy pick in most leagues. While the NFL season and mainstream fantasy drafts are still months away, there are a number of fantasy leagues already getting going. One of the main things that has been happening within those fantasy leagues is that David Johnson is still what looks like a lock to be a top 3-5 pick in almost all fantasy leagues. When Pro Football Focus ranked players heading into the 2018 NFL season for a PPR league, point per reception, Johnson still found his name in the top three of Jeff Ratcliffe’s 200: 3....
