It’s that time again when we check in on the Chicago Blackhawks prospects playing in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs. Top of the lottery prospects: Adam Fantilli returns to form following World Juniors

Despite a disappointing WJC, Fantilli is back on pace as one of the best draft-eligible NCAA players since Jack Eichel. After what many considered a disappointing World Juniors, Adam Fantilli wasted no time getting back to his high-paced performance in the NCAA. He had 10 points (5 G, 5 A) in four games since the last update, and added another three assists the two games prior post-WJC. It brings his total for the season to 40 points (16 G, 24 A) in 22 games with the University of Michigan, which ties him for the NCAA lead – with a player who’s three years older than him....

Photo by Dennis Pajot/ The 17-year-old is a cheat code come to life. In the three games since we last checked in on Connor Bedard all he’s done is continue to score — putting up six goals and an assist while taking 21 shots. In the Regina Pats last contest — a 6-4 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers — he scored a hat trick for his 13th multi-goal game this season (in the 34 WHL games he’s played). Of those 13, he has eight two-goal games, four hat tricks and one four-goal explosion (in his first game back from The World Juniors). He continues to lead the WHL in...

Blackhawks Week That Was and Will Be, 1/31: Legacies

Photo by Bill Smith/NHLI via Some thoughts on Monday’s news and a look at one Blackhawks blue-liner who’s having a rebound season. There were countless times on Monday when my mind went to Stan Mikita. With Bobby Hull dying on Monday, the two pillars of the Blackhawks teams from the 1960s are both gone from here now but will remain immortalized by the statue outside the United Center and by their names and numbers hanging from the rafters. As the discussion hovered around Hull’s horrendous off-ice behavior, I kept thinking about Mikita, because Mikita was —...

Dying Hard: NHL Reverse Standings Update — All-Star Break Edition

This poor man would rather crawl through an air conditioning duct than listen to bullshit from the New York Rangers. Checking in on the worst teams in the NHL this season. The good news about being one of the worst teams in the NHL this year is you get your shot at picking near the top of an incredibly loaded draft where players like Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Matvei Michkov and Leo Carlsson could help change the fortune of your entire franchise in an instant. Going into this season the plan was for the Chicago Blackhawks to be one of the worst teams in the entire...
