All the info you need to tune in to the Husky game and the rest of the Pac-12 slate #18 Washington 8-2 (5-2) vs. Utah 5-5 (2-5) Date: Saturday, November 18th Time: 7:30pm PST Location: Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium, Seattle, Washington TV: ESPN Streaming: Espn.com Radio: KOMO AM 1000 Excitement Rating: 10/10 (I will always give UW a 10/10 in the excitement rating. Actual score 5/10...). With the loss to Stanford there are no stakes for the Huskies in this game. Whether they lose or win, they will need to win the Apple Cup and then have Cal beat Stanford to claim the North title. ...

Saturday Open Thread and Rooting Guide

Saturday Open Thread and Rooting Guide

This one is easy. With UW out of the playoff hunt but still breathing in the race for the PAC 12 championship, this week’s rooting guide is easy. In fact, it is so easy that UW technically doesn’t even have to win their own game to make it work. UW could lose to Utah tonight (giving them a third loss) but still win the division with an Apple Cup win if one key thing happens. Cal must beat Stanford. So, here is your week 12 rooting guide: Cal at Stanford Root for: Cal If Cal beats Stanford, UW is back in firm control of their own destiny. A third loss on Stanford creates a negative...

Huskies Fall to Hokies 103-79

Huskies Fall to Hokies 103-79

Washington loses in the consolation game of the 2K Classic in New York. In a game that wasn’t even close after the first 10 minutes, the Washington Huskies were pounded by the Virginia Tech Hokies 103-79. After scoring only 28 points first half the Dawgs actually managed to outscore the Hokies in the second half 51-44. However, it was too little too late in this drubbing. This marks the second loss in two days for Washington, as they fall to 2-2 on the season after losing last night to Providence 77-70. This year’s edition of the 2k Classic in NYC has not been kind to the Huskies. Four...

The Prediction: Utah Utes vs. Washington Huskies Football

The Prediction: Utah Utes vs. Washington Huskies Football

The Dawgs look to bounce back from a disappointing loss and the suspension of a beloved teammate. The Washington Huskies are back in the friendly confines of Husky Stadium this weekend, where they will welcome the Utah Utes for a 7:30 p.m. Saturday kickoff. Both teams enter the game looking to turn their fortunes around: The Utes sit one game away from bowl eligibility, despite winning just one of their last six games, while the Huskies look to rebound from their upset loss on the road last week against Stanford, as well as the surprising suspension of preseason all-American Azeem Victor...

Opponent Q&A: Talking Utah Utes Football

The Utes are banged up and seeking bowl eligibility; we learn more from Shane Roberts of ‘Block U’ Earlier this week we had the chance to talk to Shane Roberts, Managing Editor for the SBN community Block U regarding this week’s matchup with the Huskies. Here’s what we learned in our Q&A: UWDP: Rather than a question about QB Tyler Huntley, I’ll give my analysis from what I have seen and you tell me how far off I am: He is gifted athletically with a strong and accurate arm. He seems to be one-read, then break the pocket, which could be the design to keep things simpler for him....

Huskies fall to Friars, 77-70

Turnovers and 3s down the Dawgs The Providence Friars defeated the Washington Huskies, 77-70, in the second game of the 2K Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Turnovers, 3s and poor shooting down the stretch led to Coach Mike Hopkins’ first loss this season as the Dawgs fall to 2-1 this season. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers were the problem for Washington in the first half against Providence as they turned it over 16 times in the first 20 minutes. The Huskies were able to put together a second half with only 4 TOs but the Friars’ steady attack of the zone wore down...

Pickin’ the PAC: can the Bears win the one we need them to win?

Pickin’ the PAC: can the Bears win the one we need them to win?

Go Bears. One week following the loss to Stanford, this looks like a completely lost week for a somewhat lost team. The Washington Huskies have nothing but pride to play for on a weekend where, let’s face it, almost nothing will really get decided in terms of the PAC 12 race. Still, a few teams may or may not get qualified for the postseason. I suppose that is something worth writing about. Game of the Week Cal at #19 Stanford (Sat, 5pm PT, FOX, Stan -16, o55.0) That 16 point spread seems somewhat generous given a) Stanford hasn’t been anybody not named Rice, UCLA or Oregon by that much...

Mailbag: “Finally, a Night Game!” Edition

Mailbag: “Finally, a Night Game!” Edition

Straight to it. Husk: What can we hope for next year ? We'll still have Browning... UWDP: We can have the exact same realistic hope we had during the Don James years - to be in contention for the Pac 12 title through November. If you choose to expect more than that year-in and year-out, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment the majority of the time, to not enjoy college football, and to loathe your team, your coaches, and the players. Even with his limitations, I’m glad that Browning is going to be back next season. Texas.dawg: Did Michael Vick ever run on 4th an...

What We Learned: Stanford

What We Learned: Stanford

Bleh. I made a number of predictions last week about what I thought might happen vs. Stanford. Let’s see how I stacked up, Dots style: Azeem is on the outside looking in: From a purely football perspective, I noted that: ....unless the defense can’t get Stanford’s power run game off the field, expect to see limited minutes again from #36. I was only correct in that we didn’t see much of him, because he actually started for the defense on their first series, notching a sack. The Huskies had a hard time with Stanford’s run game, and Azeem Victor’s presence later in the game...

Opponent Defense Preview: Utah

Opponent Defense Preview: Utah

The Utes’ defense undergoes a bit of a rough patch. Intros suck. Let’s get to it: Personnel Known for their defense under Kyle Whittingham, Utah lost a load of talent to the NFL last year and it’s thrown them a bit off this season. While they still play with their trademark solid tackling and over-performance relative to recruiting level, a combination of talented youth and inexperience has hit them harder than some projected. It’s been noted that their pass rush has particularly suffered with the loss of Hunter Dimick and Company, as well as most aspects of their defensive...

Washington Huskies Defensive End Azeem Victor Suspended Following DUI Arrest

Washington Huskies Defensive End Azeem Victor Suspended Following DUI Arrest

2017 has not been a good year for the preseason all-American. Washington Huskies defensive end Azeem Victor, who was a cornerstone of UW’s stellar 2016 defense prior to suffering a broken leg, has been suspended indefinitely from the team following his arrest last weekend for driving under the influence. In a prepared statement, UW head coach Chris Petersen said, “We take these matters very seriously, and have suspended Azeem from our team indefinitely as we continue to gather details about this incident.” Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports that Victor was booked into King County...
