Cubs closer Kyuji Fujikawa goes on disabled list with strained muscle

A day after getting his first major-league victory — and after his first blown save — Cubs closer Kyuji Fujikawa went on the disabled list Saturday with a strained muscle in his right forearm. Fujikawa said he has had this injury before, calling it a ‘‘short-term’’ problem. He will be evaluated further, but indications are the injury doesn’t involve the elbow, manager Dale Sveum said. Fujikawa lands on DL with forearm strain

It’s been on-and-off snow flurries here at Wrigley Field this morning. There’s also been a flurry of activity around the Cubs, most of it injury and injury-rehab related. So let’s get right to it, and we’ll update the minor leagues, too. --Closer Kyuji Fujikawa went on the 15-day disabled list today with what the Cubs say is a right-forearm muscle strain. The Cubs have recalled reliever Rafael Dolis from Class AAA Iowa. Manager Dale Sveum said he’ll close games based on matchups but Carlos Marmol is not in that mix. How it happened: Pinch hitter Scott Hairston's eighth-inning sacrifice fly broke a 3-all tie before David DeJesus' two-run double made a winner of Carlos Marmol. Cubs starter Travis Wood pitched out of a first-inning jam before trouble hit in the second.
