Of course projections don’t really give teams any advantages once the season begins. The Bengals’ rivals have found themselves in the news this week, so it is only right we check in on the teams that are supposed to put Cincinnati in their place. Linebacker remains the Bengals’ biggest roster hole

The Bengals did plenty of improving this offseason. They were far more active than usual in free agency, and they hired Zac Taylor as their new head coach. One problem still remains, though. The offseason portion of teams acquiring players has pretty much come to an end. While an NFL roster is always in constant fluctuation, free agency and the NFL draft is where we see teams change the most. We now have a pretty good idea how each team’s 90-man roster will look. ESPN recently went through and found the biggest hole still left on every teams’ roster. The Bengals hole really shouldn’t...

Playing Duke Tobin: Piecing together the Bengals’ 53-man roster

Free agency has been over. The NFL Draft is finished. How should the Bengals roster look like for Week 1? Let’s give it a shot. With rookie minicamp set to begin later this week, the Bengals’ roster is set to temporarily feature a number north of 90. In about four months’ time, that number is permitted to be no larger than 53. And what a long four months it will be. To begin passing the time, let’s assume control of the roster and whittle it down to that magic number. Nothing based on rumors, speculation or scuttlebutt of any kind. Nothing based on reason, precedent or for the sake...

The Bengals Should Take a Flyer on Ezekiel Ansah

Diving into the post draft NFL Free Agency pool rarely yields impactful results, but the former Lions pass rusher is going to entice a team before long, why not the Bengals? Which position groups have the most competition on the Bengals roster?

The depth chart will be the same for some position groups, but it will be totally different for others. With a new head coach and new players added in the offseason, the Bengals roster is in for a potential shakeup. The Bengals needed personnel changes in several areas, and addressed some of those needs. There are some spots that have become vacant due to veterans leaving, i.e. Vontaze Burfict and Tyler Kroft. There are other spots that just straight up need an upgrade. But the Bengals added nearly two dozen players via free agency, the draft, and signing undrafted free agents. Which...

Bengals select Renell Wren in Round 4

The Bengals bolster their defensive line depth. With the 125th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals have selected defensive lineman Renell Wren out of Arizona State. The Bengals needed to find more depth at defensive tackle in this draft with Geno Atkins again and Andrew Billings hitting free agency in 2020, not to mention Ryan Glasgow coming off an ACL tear. At this point, Wren was one of, if not the best defensive tackle left on the board, so this was a solid pick for Cincinnati. NFL.com had Wren projected as a Round 3-4 prospect. We will have more on this story...
