Yates is 33, had a terrific 2019 season, had elbow issues this past year but surgery to remove bone chips, and should be healthy for spring training. We’ll add to this when more details come out. Welcome to the Jays Kirby. Hope you enjoy your stay. Also Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton has passed away. Sutton won 324 games in the MLB, most of those with the Dodgers. He was 75.

MLB Roundup 12/30: Rays trade José Alvarado to the Phillies

Photo by Harry How/ Another day, another Rays trade. Rays trade José Alvarado to the Phillies Just a few days after sending Blake Snell out west to the Padres in a blockbuster deal, the Rays have dealt another player off their major-league roster. This one is not quite as egregious, though, as they are sending left-handed reliever José Alvarado the Phillies as part of a three-team deal that also includes the Dodgers. Philadelphia gets Alvarado, Tampa Bay gets Dodgers minor-league first baseman Dillon Paulson as well as a player to be named later or cash, and the...

The Dodgers rarely make development mistakes, and have plenty of money to spend. For nearly a century, the Cardinals effectively pushed an envied talent pipeline. The Rays assess other teams' pipelines very well. The Cleveland organizagion has gotten scary-good at pitcher development.
