Vikings trade up again, draft offensive lineman Pat Elflein in third round

The Vikings traded up again Friday night, leaping nine spots to draft Ohio State offensive lineman Pat Elflein at 70th overall. Elflein was named a second-team All-American right guard for the Buckeyes in 2015 before he was asked to move to center as a senior. He went on to win the Rimington Award for the nation’s most outstanding collegiate center. Elflein joins running back Dalvin Cook (41st overall) as the Vikings’ first two picks on Friday night. Minnesota dealt a fifth-round pick (160th) to the Jets to move up nine spots for Elflein.

With 2017 draft underway, don't forget quiet 2016 Vikings' picks

As you frantically research the Vikings’ options in the second round and beyond at this year’s NFL draft — Andrew Krammer gives you a good start with 10 players still available entering Day 2 — it’s also important to keep some perspective and realize a lot of these players won’t be immediate contributors (if they contribute at all). You could argue the player the Vikings get at No. 48 overall should be able to help right away. Beyond that? It’s hit-or-miss. Of at least equal importance (and likely more importance) will be the continued development of the players who were picked...

Ten intriguing prospects still available to Vikings in NFL Draft's second day

Unless the Vikings trade up today, fifteen picks will be made until Minnesota is finally on the clock at the NFL Draft in Philadelphia. Sitting at No. 48, there is a good chance a handful of these 10 intriguing prospects will still be available. One could be the Vikings’ first-overall pick. OG Forrest Lamp, Western Kentucky: The draft’s best guard prospect is still on the board after only two offensive linemen — Utah’s Garret Bolles and Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk — were taken in Thursday’s first round. OT Cam Robinson, Alabama: Three-year starter at left tackle for the Crimson...

Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland / Drafted 146th overall by the Minnesota Vikings / Good receivers can be found in the fifth round, even though the Devin Street Experience may have created the impression that they can't. Diggs offers the latest evidence of that. In his rookie season, he led the Vikings in catches (52) and receiving yards (720). He also had four touchdown receptions. 2017 Draft: Recapping First Round for NFC East Rivals

Just below our anticipation of the Cowboys’ draft picks, most Dallas fans are very interested in what happens with our division rivals. Joe Mixon in NFL draft will test sliding scale of morality

Give Vikings general manager Rick Spielman for his honesty. When asked this week about character risks and how the Vikings assess them heading into the start of the NFL draft tonight, he said (in part) this: “Whether it’s fair or not, the less talented [a player is] and the more red flags [he has] probably the more likely [he is] going to get a red dot because is [his] talent worth the headache? The higher [a player goes] up the draft board, you’re really going to do your diligence because you’re saying those guys are potential difference-makers on your team. They can help you win or...

Draft fans in Philadelphia already trolling Vikings for Bradford trade

Philadelphia hasn’t hosted the NFL Draft since 1961, which ended a 13-year run for the draft in that city. It’s back in Philadelphia this year, for the first time in 56 years. Philadelphia’s beloved Eagles have never won a Super Bowl.
