With a record of 44-49, the Pirates seem destined to be sellers at the trade deadline. Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. The good, the bad, and the ugly for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Paul Zeise: If the Pirates decide to sell, who is buying?

The prevailing thought is that the Pirates will be sellers at the July 31 MLB trade deadline. Neal Huntington continues to deny it, but he should stop. This season is going nowhere, so the team might as well try to clear space for younger players and save some money for the offseason.

This Week in Tribe History: Closing the Johnnie LeMaster story

Johnnie LeMaster was with the Cleveland Indians for less than a month. That was a month too long. The team gave up a good pitcher to get him. Why? During this week in Tribe history, (July 5, 1985), the Cleveland Indians received Scott Bailes from the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete a May 31 trade where […] This Week in Tribe History: Closing the Johnnie LeMaster story - Believeland Ball - Believeland Ball - A Cleveland Indians Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Thursday Bantering: Some minor league notes

There isn’t much for Blue Jays news on the off-day. Buffalo Bisons tweeted that pitchers Zach Stewart and Brandon Cumpton signed minor league contracts with the Jays and have been assigned to the Bisons. The Bisons were a little thin on pitching arms with all the moves the Jays have made. Cumpton had been in the Pirates organization since they drafted him in the 9th round of the 2010 draft. He pitch in the majors a bit in 2013 and 2014. He was pitching for an independent league team when the Jays signed him. You might remember Zach was part of the Scott Rolen trade, way back in 2009....

Wilmer Flores pillages a win away from the Pirates

Wilmer delivered in the clutch once again. It was an emotional day at the ballpark when, before the game, Sandy Alderson announced he was stepping away from the team for health reasons. With some perspective, there was still a game to be played, and it fittingly ended with a Wilmer Flores walk-off and a 4-3 Mets victory. Sandy Alderson and Flores will forever be linked in Mets lore for that night in 2015. First it was Flores’s tears on the field, then Alderson announcing there was no trade, and of course a couple of days later THE Wilmer walk-off against the...
