Mets sign free agent LHP Aaron Loup

Photo by Alex Trautwig/MLB Photos via The Mets have identified their lefty specialist. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that the Mets have signed free agent lefty reliever Aaron Loup to a one-year deal. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo indicated the Mets were “zeroing in” on Loup earlier today. The 33 year old has been in the league since 2012, working exclusively as a reliever for the Blue Jays, Phillies, Padres, and Rays. In 406 appearances, he’s thrown 351.0 innings, which should emphasize the narrow role he’s typically occupied. Loup is one of the...

Padres News: Jake Cronenworth could quietly be the difference-maker

Should the KC Royals’ hunt for a lefthanded bat include an outfielder they dropped in 2019? The KC Royals’ so-far unsuccessful search for a new lefthanded bat took another hit with Friday’s news that the Padres reportedly managed to secure the return of free agent infielder-outfielder Jurickson Profar. Padres should go all-in and trade for Josh Hader

It’s near-impossible for a franchise to know it’s the right moment to cash in your chips and go all-in with a roster. But for AJ Preller, that time is right now. Red Sox reportedly “have momentum” on deal with Enrique Hernández

Photo by Alex Trautwig/MLB Photos via The former Dodger would fill a hole at second base and the outfield. Earlier today, the Padres acquired yet another player, this time bringing back free agent Jurickson Profar on a three-year deal. I bring that up because Profar was yet another player we learned the Red Sox had interest in before signing elsewhere. He would have fit a hole for the Red Sox at second base while also having the versatility to be able to fill in elsewhere around the diamond, most notably in the outfield. Well, Enrique Hernández fits that profile as...

Grading the Mets’ trade for Joey Lucchesi

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports Lucchesi is a cheap acquisition who adds much-needed rotation depth. Though it was immediately overshadowed by disgusting revelations about the team’s now-former general manager, the Mets did make a notable trade Monday, acquiring Joey Lucchesi from San Diego. The meat-and-potatoes of the deal involved Joe Musgrove heading to the Padres for a handful of prospects, but the Mets were able to jump in and snag a cheap starter with major league experience in exchange for prospect Endy Rodriguez.
