Jays Win On Opening Day

Jays Win On Opening Day

Photo by Mike Ehrmann/ Blue Jays 6 Rays 2 Boy, I want to read too much into that game. We got a great start from Berríos, good defense (minus a couple of fly balls hit to Springer), and a lot of power. Berríos went 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 ‘earned runs’ (only one of them was really an earned run), 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. There was a first-inning ‘Tropicanna special’ home run by Rays’ lead-off hitter Yandy Díaz (pulled down the left field line to clear a very low wall in the left field corner). And Jose gave up another run in the sixth, off two...

The Best and Worst Tampa Bay Rays All-Time against the Toronto Blue Jays

The Best and Worst Tampa Bay Rays All-Time against the Toronto Blue Jays

Photo by Joseph Garnett Jr. / The Tampa Bay Rays have taken on their division rival north of the border in a total of 451 regular season games, plus two playoff games (both of which went in the Rays favor). Over those regular season games, the Rays have gone 245-206 (.543%). The Rays overtook the Blue Jays in the all-time series win column back in 2011 and haven’t looked back. Since the start of the 2007 season, the Rays have either tied or won the season series a total of 13 times and have taken the past five season series in a row against Toronto. As for the best...

Pearson, Parsons and White Make The Opening Roster

Pearson, Parsons and White Make The Opening Roster

PhotoPhoto by Cliff Welch/Icon Sportswire via The Jays have made some roster moves: Making the team: Nate Pearson Mitch White Wes Parsons Optioned: Zach Pop Yariel Rodriguez (they want to build up his arm) Injury List: Jordan Romano Erik Swanson And “likely” Alek Manoah (He threw 34 pitches in a sim game today. It looks like the team wants guys who can give them innings in the last three spots in the pen. Wes Parsons is the one who surprises me. Parson had a 4.22 ERA in 10.2 spring innings. He allowed 10 hits, 5 earned, 8 walks, 3 hit batters and 8...

Today in Blue Jays History: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Walk-Off Home Run

Today in Blue Jays History: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Walk-Off Home Run

Photo by Minas Panagiotakis/ Six Years Ago Today The Jays were playing a rather forgettable spring game in Montreal. Nothing much happened until the bottom of the ninth inning. The score was 0-0 when Vladimir Guerrero approached the plate, and the post titles gave it away. The great part is that if you listen to the clip below, Buck Martinez suggests what will happen as Vlad approaches the plate. I’m not Buck’s biggest fan, but he does a great job on the call of this. We wouldn’t see Vlad in a regular season MLB game until the end of April 2019. Since then,...
