Nets to work out former NYC stars

Nets Blog | ESPN New York — The Nets will work out some local talent this week. The team announced Tuesday that it will bring in Lamont "Momo" Jones and Kevin Parrom for workouts this week. Jones is from Harlem and starred at Rice High School before bouncing around several prep schools during his high school tenure. Parrom had a strong career at St. Raymond's in the Bronx before transferring to prep school for his senior season. Both Jones and Parrom attended the University of Arizona.

Jackson, who went from player to coach with no prior experience -- albeit with some broadcasting in-between -- was asked by the San Jose Mercury News on Tuesday if he deserved credit for paving the way for Kidd to make the quick transition. “No. I think at the end of the day Jason Kidd is an all-time great player who I’ve got a lot of respect for,” Jackson replied to the newspaper.

Kidd on the job for Nets' pre-draft workout

Kidd, sporting shorts and a long-sleeve T-shirt, was in attendance at the Brooklyn Nets' latest pre-draft workout Monday at the team's practice facility. Upon conclusion of the workout, Kidd talked briefly with general manager Billy King, assistant GM Bobby Marks and director of player personnel Gregg Polinsky before leaving the court. According to the prospects who participated, Kidd did more watching than coaching.
