Raiders week 8 NFL power rankings roundup: You can’t lose if you don’t play

Raiders week 8 NFL power rankings roundup: You can’t lose if you don’t play

A lot of people don’t know that. Last week the Raiders hit rock bottom. They had lost 27-3 to the Seahawks in London and have been tearing it down since then. The one benefit in terms of standings is concerned is their bye week means other bottom of the barrel teams can lose another game and slip below them in the power rankings. That happened this week. SB Nation Rank: 32 Last week: 32 NFL.com Rank: 32 Last week: 32 No, Oakland didn't move up after the bye week. A rested bad team is still bad. Put another way: The Raiders are doing nothing well. They are 28th in scoring, 29th in points...

Ateman addition gives Raiders as many active 2018 drafted rookies as all other drafts combined

Ateman addition gives Raiders as many active 2018 drafted rookies as all other drafts combined

The latest rookie draft pick to get the call is seventh rounder Marcell Ateman who has been brought up from the practice squad. His addition puts eight drafted rookies on the Raiders active roster. That’s the same number of original Raiders drafted players from every previous draft combined. That also means the only 2018 drafted rookie not on the Raiders active roster is 6th round linebacker Azeem Victor. He was waived in the first round of cuts and opted to sign onto the Buccaneers practice squad. Currently he is on the Seahawks practice squad. Ateman is the 8-man both in his number (88)...

Raiders swap out rookie kickers again, this time for fifth rounder

Raiders swap out rookie kickers again, this time for fifth rounder

Two games with Matt McCrane was enough for the Raiders. The undrafted rookie kicker went 5 for 9, missing both attempts outside 50 yards and his longest made field goal from 44 yards out. That’s pretty bad, so over the bye week, the Raiders made the change. They had added fifth round rookie (167 overall) Daniel Carlson. The 6-foot-5 (!), 213-pounder was drafted in the fifth round out of Auburn last April this year by the Minnesota Vikings. He is a three-time All-American honoree by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and 2-time SEC Special Teams Player of the Year while also garnering...

On this episode of high drafted Reggie McKenzie players sent away: Obi Melifonwu waived from injured reserve

On this episode of high drafted Reggie McKenzie players sent away: Obi Melifonwu waived from injured reserve

If I were a Raiders drafted player from 2014 to 2017, I’d be feeling pretty uneasy right about now. Monday saw 2015 first round pick Amari Cooper traded to the Cowboys. Tuesday saw 2017 second round pick safety Obi Melifonwu waived from the team’s injured reserve. That leaves just Derek Carr, Gabe Jackson, Jon Feliciano, Karl Joseph, Gareon Conley, and Marquel Lee as the only remaining drafted players who were on the opening day roster and remain so. Shilique Calhoun was waived and brought back on the practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. DeAndre Washington hasn’t...
