Free agent Junior Galette responds to Gruden call for pass rusher: ‘Texting him right now’

Free agent Junior Galette responds to Gruden call for pass rusher: ‘Texting him right now’

Back in April, Junior Galette made a free agent visit to Oakland. They offered him a contract, he declined and left without a deal. Since then, the 30-year-old pass rusher has remained a free agent. With the season a couple weeks in, he’s getting desperate. So too, as it happens, have the Raiders. After two games with two sacks, Galette took to twitter to try and get the word out that he wants a job. Everyone blow up @JGruden3 Mentions Till I get Signed — Junior Galette (@JovaisG) September 18, 2018 That was Tuesday. Come Wednesday, Gruden was asked about his difficulties with...

Carr went for ‘manageable situations’ vs Broncos, Gruden looking for ‘more big chunk plays’

Carr went for ‘manageable situations’ vs Broncos, Gruden looking for ‘more big chunk plays’

Derek Carr was efficient last week in a loss. But the offense did open up some and Gruden wants that trend to continue. In one regard, Derek Carr’s stat line last Sunday was stunning. I mean, completing 29 of 32 passes is incredible. Over 30 passes with just three incompletions seems hard to believe. Raiders WR Jordy Nelson not sweating quiet start

Being Derek Carr’s primary receiving target has resulted in a gaudy stat line in each of the Raiders’ first two games. Tight end Jared Cook had nine catches for 180 yards in Week 1. Last weekend in Denver, receiver Amari Cooper had 10 catches on 10 targets for 116 yards. “So maybe I’m in the rotation this week,” receiver Jordy Nelson said, grinning. “We’ll see.” Nelson, the Raiders’ biggest free-agent acquisition this spring, is off to a quiet start with five catches for 53 yards in two games. He was targeted four times at Denver and did not have a catch in the second half....
