Another potential Eagles target is injured ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft

Good news for Philly, maybe? Another potential first-round draft target for the Philadelphia Eagles is injured ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft. Last week, it was Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons who suffered an ACL injury. Now ESPN is reporting that Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown had surgery on a LisFranc injury last month. The good news is that Brown, unlike Simmons, isn’t expected to miss the 2019 season. Brown’s recovery is expected to have him “ready for summer training camp” beginning in late July. In the meantime, Brown won’t be able to participate in...

ESPN has a 5 step plan for the Eagles’ 2019 offseason

ESPN has a 5 step plan for the Eagles’ 2019 offseason

Sound good to you? Every year, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell comes up with a list of five offseason moves that each NFL team should make. Barnwell had some quality suggestions for the Philadelphia Eagles last year. Now let’s take a look at this year’s five-step plan. 1. Let Nick Foles leave in free agency. This one is relatively simple. The only way the Eagles should use the franchise tag on Foles is if they have 100% confidence in a deal lined up to trade him. And such a deal would need to net them a minimum of one third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. If the Eagles aren’t perfectly...

Today we’ll be evaluating EVP of football operations and de facto general manager Howie Roseman. HOWIE ROSEMAN REVIEW: Roseman’s strong 2017 offseason earned him NFL Executive of the Year and the Eagles’ first Super Bowl title. That performance was always going to be a tough act to follow and, sure enough, it was. Whereas Roseman...

Kiper’s 1.0 version had the Eagles taking a defensive end at No. 25 overall. Kiper’s latest mock has the Eagles sticking with defense but instead going with a cornerback in the first round (via In$ider): 25. Philadelphia Eagles — Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson Injuries in the secondary really hurt the Eagles in 2018, as the defense couldn’t match the play that led it a Super Bowl LII victory. And with...

Pete Prisco’s Top 30 NFL free agents: Jadeveon Clowney, Demarcus Lawrence top defense-heavy list - CBS Sports7) Brandon Graham: At 31, he’s an older player on my list. But he remains a pass-rush force on the edge and would be a nice addition for any team. His age might make his contract different from some of the others on this list. 21) Nick Foles: It looks like he’s going to hit the market if the Eagles don’t franchise tag him. If he does, he will be the top quarterback available. The...

The Linc - It’s time for the Eagles to find an answer at running back

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 2/16/19. Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... This offseason, Eagles need to finally find stability at running back - NBCSPIn the four years since Shady has been gone, the Eagles have drafted just two running backs. They took Smallwood in the fifth round of the 2016 draft and took Donnel Pumphrey in the fourth round of the 2017 draft. Smallwood has at least developed into a serviceable backup/rotational player, but Pumphrey hasn’t played a single snap in the NFL. Looking at the position now, there are obvious questions marks just with...

Eagles cap casualty candidates, Golden Tate vs. Nelson Agholor, Nick Foles trade talk, and more

BGN Radio Episode 37! The NFL offseason is slowly chugging along but thankfully there are still some Philadelphia Eagles topics to talk about. John Stolnis and I got together to discuss the following on the latest BGN Radio episode: The Broncos trade for Joe Flacco — how does it impact Nick Foles and the Eagles, if at all? The Jaguars seem to be the favorites, but what happens if the Foles market shrinks entirely? Is it impossible that Foles would just retire? If you’re keeping one of Nelson Agholor and Golden Tate, who are you keeping? Is it possible the Eagles might not bring either...

The Linc - Shrinking market for Nick Foles?

The Linc - Shrinking market for Nick Foles?

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 2/15/19. Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ... How Joe Flacco trade influences Eagles’ options with Nick Foles - ESPNThe market for Foles seems small based on this exercise, and it would shrink further if he had to be acquired via trade. The Jaguars appear to be the most likely landing spot. The Eagles have plenty of incentive to work out a tag-and-trade. They not only would get value in return -- the Ravens are expected to receive a midround pick in return for Flacco, which seems reasonable -- but also would ensure Foles doesn’t end up...

What’s your level of confidence in the Eagles offensive coordinator? Now that we’ve finished our Eagles position review series, let’s turn our attention to Philadelphia’s coaching staff. Today we’ll be evaluating offensive coordinator Mike Groh. MIKE GROH REVIEW: The Eagles found themselves needing a new offensive coordinator last offseason with Frank Reich leaving to become head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Instead of holding a wide search, the Eagles focused on just two candidates: wide receivers coach Mike Groh and running backs coach Duce Staley. Groh obviously ended up...

Three free agents who make sense for the Eagles, version 2.0 - PhillyVoiceJohn Brown, WR, Ravens (5’11, 178): The Eagles badly need more speed in their offense, and Brown (28) would certainly give them that. He has 4.34 speed, with 40 career receptions of 20+ yards, 13 career receptions of 40+ yards, and a career yards per catch average of 15.0 yards. In 2018 with the Ravens, Brown had a nice season, catching 42 passes for 715 yards (17.0 YPC) and 5 TDs. Those numbers would have been better...
