Nick Bosa is the NN consensus for now

Our team is back with three mock drafts as the free agency signing period dawns! The NFL free agency tampering period wraps up later today, with the official signing period starting at 1 p.m. PT. In the meantime, Alex, Greg, and Josh are back with their latest mock drafts. We’ll have at least two more, one in early April and one right before the draft. Here’s a look at their previous mock drafts. Feb 4, post-Super Bowl Jan 14, underclassmen declaration day Nov 6, halfway point of NFL season October 24 For the time being, we have a consensus between the three mock drafts. The Arizona...

Report: Tyrann Mathieu gets $14 million per year from Chiefs

Report: Tyrann Mathieu gets $14 million per year from Chiefs

The safety market is settling in. The safety market appears to be settling in well for Earl Thomas to land a sizable pay day. A few hours after Landon Collins agreed to a $14 million per year deal in Washington, Tyrann Mathieu is signing a three-year, $42 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, per Adam Schefter. It did not seem like Mathieu was ever on the 49ers radar, but he is setting the market if they want to make a run at Thomas. We’ve heard repeatedly that Thomas wants to be the highest paid safety in the NFL. I don’t know that at his age he could get $15 million per year...

Report: Trey Flowers signing with Detroit Lions

Report: Trey Flowers signing with Detroit Lions

One of the best edge rushers on the market is headed to Motown. The San Francisco 49ers need to beef up their edge rushers, but they will not be partaking in one of the biggest names on the market. The Detroit Lions are set to sign defensive end Trey Flowers to a five-year contract that could be worth upwards of $17 million per year, per Adam Schefter. The 49ers are diving into the market with Kwon Alexander, but the big question right now is how they plan on addressing the pass rush. They likely will add a Nick Bosa or Josh Allen with the No. 2 pick, and even if they trade back, there is...

Frank Gore signs one-year deal with Buffalo Bills

Frank Gore signs one-year deal with Buffalo Bills

The Hall of Fame awaits. The Miami Dolphins will not be re-signing Frank Gore this year. The future Hall of Famer is taking his talents north, signing a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills worth $2 million, per Adam Schefter. Gore injured his foot last year, costing him the final two games of the season and his first missed games since 2010. He had a resurgence last year in beating out Kenyan Drake in that committee situation. He rushed for 722 yards, averaging 4.6 per carry and scoring five times. He finished the season ranked fourth all-time with 14,748 rushing yards, and is 521 yards...

Report: 49ers potentially in the market for Le’Veon Bell

Just burn it all! If you thought the San Francisco 49ers blew their free agency spendings on Kwon Alexander, they might have a bigger move in mind. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on Monday that he heard the 49ers could be in the market for free agent running back Le’Veon Bell. ESPN's Chris Mortensen mentioned on NFL Live that he's heard #49ers are potentially in the market for free agent Le'Veon Bell. #Jets still viewed as clear favorites.— Evan Silva (@evansilva) March 11, 2019 Well, that would certainly be something. A year ago, the 49ers signed Jerick McKinnon to a four-year,...

Social media snooping peaks during NFL free agency

Social media snooping peaks during NFL free agency

Go ahead ... snoop around! The NFL free agency negotiation window opened at 9 a.m. PT today, and will continue until 1 p.m. PT on Wednesday. It brings us a host of rumors, with some deals effectively done, and other players making the rounds visiting numerous teams. The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract with linebacker Kwon Alexander. The deal is not official until Wednesday, but the 49ers have a player to partner with Fred Warner. We are seeing some responses to it, but one that is worth noting is free agent safety Earl Thomas. One of the best...

49ers to sign LB Kwon Alexander

49ers to sign LB Kwon Alexander

They’ve found a partner for Fred Warner. The San Francisco 49ers appear to have a running mate in place for second-year linebacker Fred Warner. The team is set to sign linebacker Kwon Alexander, per Pro Football Talk. Ian Rapoport is reporting the deal will be four years and worth $54 million. Alexander just wrapped up his rookie contract on a down note, tearing his ACL in Week 7 of the 2018 season. He was cleared to return to jogging in late February, and would be behind Jimmy Garoppolo and Jerick McKinnon in the rehab process. Alexander is a great run stopper with solid coverage skills...

Report: Earl Thomas wants at least $14 million per year

We know he wants to be well paid, but the length might be more noteworthy If the San Francisco 49ers want to sign Earl Thomas, it’s going to cost them a pretty penny — albeit on the short term. Thomas is looking to land at least $14 million per year, according to NFL Network reporter Jane Slater. Eric Berry is currently the top paid safety at $13 million per year on a six-year deal, but Slater is hearing Thomas is looking for a two-year deal. This is not exactly breaking news. We’ve heard he wants a big pay day, first from Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill. Thomas turns 30 in May, and...

Report: 49ers interested in free agent linebacker Kwon Alexander

The middle linebacker is coming off a torn ACL, but could still find himself earning a solid pay-day The San Francisco 49ers need to find a long-term running mate for linebacker Fred Warner, and they might already have one option on their radar. Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Kwon Alexander is free to negotiate a new contract starting Monday at 9 a.m. PT, and Bucs beat writer Rick Stroud is reporting the 49ers are in the mix. Bucs beat writer Jenna Laine is reporting similar potential numbers as Stroud. #Bucs are bracing to lose WR Adam Humphries and/or LB Kwon Alexander to free agency....

49ers players happy to get fans speculating

49ers players happy to get fans speculating

The most wonderful time of the offseason. It’s been a busy week in the NFL, with trades happening, players getting released, and buzz picking up in advance of free agency. The San Francisco 49ers have been rather quiet, but a few of their players are happy to get us speculating about what the team might have planned. On Sunday, Adrian Colbert sent a tweet to Odell Beckham Jr., and we saw Jerick McKinnon and Jullian Taylor tweeting out comments that would lead us to believe maybe the team is trying to make something happen. It could very well be, and probably is absolutely nothing. But...

ESPN analyst thinks Dante Fowler re-signs with Rams

ESPN analyst thinks Dante Fowler re-signs with Rams

The pass rush market will feature some talented players next week, but is already limited thanks to the franchise tag. DeMarcus Lawrence, Jadeveon Clowney, Frank Clark, and Dee Ford are all unlikely to sign with another team unless a trade happens. Brandon Graham re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles before free agency began. Now, one ESPN analyst thinks Dante Fowler will likely re-sign with the Los Angeles Rams. I think they bring back Fowler, let Suh leave, look for RB support for Gurley, work on the OL after losing Saffold and Sullivan (though they did use a bunch of picks on OL last...

Cedrick Hardman, 49ers all-time sack leader, passes away

Cedrick Hardman, 49ers all-time sack leader, passes away

Sad news for the 49ers family. Former defensive end Cedrick Hardman passed away on Friday at the age of 70. The 49ers drafted Hardman in 1970, using the ninth overall pick. He spent ten seasons with the 49ers before joining the Oakland Raiders for the 1980 and 1981 seasons. Sacks did not become an official stat until 1982, but unofficially, Hardman finished his career with 127 sacks. During his time with the 49ers, Hardman had 112.5 sacks, which makes him the unofficial sack lead. The “official” leader since sacks were first recognized in 1982 is Bryant Young, with 89.5. Hardman was...

Report: 49ers have expressed interest in franchised edge rusher Dee Ford

Report: 49ers have expressed interest in franchised edge rusher Dee Ford

There are some rumblings it might take a second round pick to land Ford. The San Francisco 49ers need to improve their pass rush, and they might be willing to make a trade for a notable name to get it done. The 49ers and Green Bay Packers are both expressing interest in Dee Ford, according to NFL Network Ian Rapoport. The Kansas City Chiefs used their franchise tag on Ford, but even as they made that decision, they made it known they were willing to trade him. He finished last season with a career high 13 sacks and 29 quarterback hits. He had two sacks over six games the previous season,...

49ers see slight bump in Super Bowl odds heading into free agency

49ers see slight bump in Super Bowl odds heading into free agency

How high might they claim in the next couple weeks? NFL free agency formally opens next Wednesday, and with it will come all sorts of roster churning. We already know several trades that will go down, and there are plenty of impact players set to change teams. While plenty of the usual suspects will remain good or bad, we know that roster churn in the NFL results in plenty of changes in playoff teams. The San Francisco 49ers were viewed as a contender for a wild card berth last year prior to Jimmy Garoppolo’s torn ACL. A year later, they are once again expected to contend for a playoff...

The 49ers signed a free agent who isn’t even in the photo editor

The San Francisco 49ers signed a free agent on Friday, agreeing to terms on a two-year contract with kicker Jonathan Brown. We do not have a photo of Brown in our story editor, so make of that what you will. But seriously, the move provides the 49ers with an offseason leg who could end up getting preseason work to show off to future employers. Additionally, it does give the 49ers a chance to look at a kicker they might consider down the road if the 49ers do not get Robbie Gould signed to an extension this year. The team franchised Gould with hopes of figuring out a deal before July 15th. If...
