Falcons RB Devonta Freeman out 2 to 3 weeks with knee contusion

Falcons RB Devonta Freeman out 2 to 3 weeks with knee contusion

And the hits keep coming. Are you tired of hearing bad injury news about the Falcons? Well, too bad, because on Saturday we got some more. Running back Devonta Freeman is expected to miss two to three weeks with a knee contusion, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Freeman was held out of practice during the week leading up to Atlanta’s Week 2 matchup with the Falcons’ NFC South rival, the Carolina Panthers. Now we know for sure that we won’t see Freeman on the field for the next couple of weeks, at least. Falcons’ RB Devonta Freeman, ruled out for Sunday’s game against Carolina, is...

2018 NFL picks: The Falcoholic staff predicts Panthers vs. Falcons and other Week 2 games

2018 NFL picks: The Falcoholic staff predicts Panthers vs. Falcons and other Week 2 games

Will the Falcons overcome this rash of injuries to beat the Panthers? Are you stressed out about the Falcons sending both Keanu Neal and Deion Jones to injured reserve? We are, too, but it didn’t really dampen our confidence in the Falcons’ ability to beat the Bucs this Sunday even a little bit. All of us — even this week’s enemy guest picker, our frenemy Brian Beversluis from Cat Scratch Reader — has picked the Falcons to knock off the Panthers. Perhaps it’s echoes of that one time Matt Ryan threw for 500-plus yards and Julio Jones went off for an even 300 receiving yards...

Falcoholic NFL picks: What’s in store for Week 4 of the preseason?

Falcoholic NFL picks: What’s in store for Week 4 of the preseason?

Check out our crew’s best guesses for this week’s games. It’s finally here. Just one last preseason game to suffer through watch and then we’re on to the regular season. While the fourth preseason game is often the least interesting for fans because of the dearth of actual starters participating, it is fundamentally important for guys on the fringe who are trying to lock up roster spots. So while you won’t see Matt Ryan tossing bombs to Julio Jones or anything, you will see a bunch of guys playing fast and physical and trying to convince Dan Quinn & Co. that they deserve to...

Falcoholic staff picks, preseason Week 3

Falcoholic staff picks, preseason Week 3

Who cares who wins this week’s preseason games? Well, we do, apparently. We’re serious about our craft here at The Falcoholic. We’re using the preseason to get into game shape, just like the players do. That includes flexing our picking muscles as we predict who’s going to come away with wins in preseason action this week. What a weird week of picks this turned out to be. Our staff is split on Falcons vs. Jaguars, and you can yell at Dave Choate, David Walker, and Adnan Ikic for doubting your Atlanta Falcons in this week’s matchup. Please feel free to do so in the...

Throwback Thursday Series

Throwback Thursday Series

Relive the biggest moments from Falcons history. The offseason is obviously the dead period of football (you can read about how much I hate this period here), and with it we don’t have much to talk about except for some speculation here and there. I figured this would be a good time to look back on some moments in Falcons history and maybe relive them while we wait for football to come back. That idea has given rise to a new series of “Throwback Thursday” articles I’m planning on writing throughout the dead period. Each week, we’ll re-live and discuss a certain moment in this...
