Denver Broncos: 5 thing we learned from the Broncos 16-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns

Denver Broncos: 5 thing we learned from the Broncos 16-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns

Von Miller makes history and Vance Joseph may have cost his team another victory. After the most disappointing loss of the Vance Joseph era the hot seat under the 2nd year head coach has been sizzling this week. He and the Broncos responded with a So what did we learn? 1. Shane Ray is as good as gone Before the game word broke that Su’a Cravens and Shane Ray were healthy scratches for Dymonte Thomas and Jeff Holland. Source said Cravens and Ray were told yesterday they would be inactive. Signs were there with Cravens bc Thomas was getting reps in front of him. Ray has not gained...

GIF Horse - The Good, The Bad, & The Elway

The buck stops with Broncos GM John Elway. How is he going to fix this? After the Broncos loss to the 49ers Sunday, I posted a simple tweet before finding a way to distract myself from the disappointment of the Broncos 20-14 catastrophe. It will go unsung by most of the media, but it all falls squarely on John Elway. -Chose Joseph over Shanahan -Passed on Kaepernick for Trevor Siemian/Paxton Lynch & now Case Keenum-Traded established veterans for cap space & draft picks. His #Broncos team. No doubt.— Joe Rowles (@JoRo_NFL) December 10, 2018 Twitter is great for a lot of things, but...

Horse Tracks: Is Vance Joseph a ‘Dead Man Walking?’

Horse Tracks: Is Vance Joseph a ‘Dead Man Walking?’

After the most disappointing performance of his Broncos career, the seat is red hot. Good morning, Broncos Country! It sure looked like the Broncos slept in til about 3:30 last Sunday. Vance Joseph coached like his job was on the line in the second half, and all told it likely was. A full game like that and Denver would still be in the playoff hunt. Instead any real hope died in San Francisco when Kyle Shanahan thoroughly out-coached the man John Elway passed him over for. There was a moment after the #Chargers upset that I said Joseph was coaching to save his job because he'd have to...

GIF Horse - Surviving San Francisco

The Broncos should beat the 49ers, but already without Harris, Paradis and Shaq, they need to do so without serious injuries. Through the first half of Sunday’s gave with the Bengals it definitely seemed like the Broncos had been sucked into the trap I worried about last week. Keenum and the passing game just couldn’t keep drives going until the very end of the 2nd quarter. As well as Phillip Lindsay played throughout the game, it was a pass to a role player that broke the game open. As a receiving threat, Booker has been a solid contributor this season. Devontae...

Horse Tracks: Will a Patchwork Fly Zone Crash the Broncos Playoff Hopes?

Horse Tracks: Will a Patchwork Fly Zone Crash the Broncos Playoff Hopes?

Can Bradley Roby, Justin Simmons and the rookies step up? In case you somehow missed the news, at the time of my writing this, the Broncos are looking at going into the 49ers having survived a costly battle of attrition with the Bengals Sunday. Lost to injury during the game were Josey Jewell, Derek Wolfe and Chris Harris Jr. The first two both look like they’re eyeing this weekend for their return but Harris’ injury was far more significant. Injury Updates: Joseph updates status of Chris Harris Jr., Derek Wolfe and Josey Jewell ”Chris Harris [has] a break in his lower leg,” Joseph...

GIF Horse - The Tiger Trap Game

Remember A.J. McCarron? The Denver Broncos better not sleep on the Cincinnati Bengals. If the season were to end today, there is little doubt that the Broncos game against Pittsburgh last Sunday was the most exciting win of the year. While the Chargers game had its thrills, it took some serious mistakes by Los Angeles for the Broncos to pull it out at the end. Despite what Ben Roethlisberger may think about his final pick to Shelby Harris, Denver went blow for blow with the Steelers from the opening kickoff ‘til the final whistle. There’s no doubt that the fumble out of the back of...

Horse Tracks - Will Vance Joseph save his job?

Horse Tracks - Will Vance Joseph save his job?

It wouldn’t be as crazy as you think. It wasn’t long ago that I was calling for the Broncos to chase John Harbaugh this offseason. That may yet be the case, but with back to back wins over playoff teams the last two weeks there is now an obvious road where Vance Joseph and the vast majority of the coaching staff come back in 2019. He’s had his issues, but Bill Musgrave has coached the Keenum-led to a top 12 DVOA rating. That’s impressive, especially given the injuries along the line and D.T. trade. Now before you send me an angry email or three, hear me out....

GIF Horse - Stopping the Steelers

Can the Broncos stop another win streak? I mentioned the Broncos playoff odds for Horse Tracks yesterday and planned to spend a bit of GIF Horse going over how, exactly Denver sprung such an improbably upset. Then Football Outsiders chose the Broncos-Chargers game as their upset of the week, so to avoid redundancy, I’ll strongly recommend Rivers McCown’s piece to you. Any Given Sunday: Broncos over Chargers | Football Outsiders How do you lose a game you had a 90 percent chance to win twice in the last three minutes? Some Chargers Shit. The pick by Miller may go down...

Horse Tracks: Could the Broncos sneak into the playoffs?

Horse Tracks: Could the Broncos sneak into the playoffs?

They aren’t dead, yet. It’s always more fun to look around the net for links after a Broncos win, so today was a good Monday. As I’m sure you know, the usual suspects all played crucial roles in upsetting the Chargers Sunday, but in case you live on Mars: Courtland Sutton and Emmanuel Sanders came up huge to clinch, Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman pitched in when they got opportunities, Von Miller and Bradley Chubb came up huge time and again. Lindsay with a huge breakaway touchdown after the fake punt. #Broncos 7 #Chargers 6 #DENvsLAC pic.twitter.com/7Q4dj0szhd— Joe Rowles...
