Baltimore Ravens offensive line should be the identity of the entire offense

Baltimore Ravens offensive line should be the identity of the entire offense

As my colleague Evan Mazza mentioned earlier today, the Baltimore Ravens need to solidify the offensive line this offseason starting with re-signing right tackle Rick Wagner which I agree with. I’ll take it a step further and say not only do the Ravens need to solidify the offensive line, the unit needs to represent the identity of the entire offense. This offensive line needs to be the biggest strength for the Ravens offense going forward. When you look at the Ravens offense since 1996, the team has no doubt had its struggles with this unit. However, when you look at the Ravens offensive...

Path to the NFL: DB prospect Nehemiah Coward

Path to the NFL: DB prospect Nehemiah Coward

Nehemiah Coward sits down with Baltimore Beatdown to talk about his journey in football and what he thinks he can bring to the table on the NFL level. Nehemiah Coward comes from a small school in division II football from Central State University Marauders (HBCU) in Ohio. On the field, he has a knack for making the big plays particularly on special teams as he has five career blocks and a 109-yard missed field goal return for a touchdown. Marauders coaches have utilized Coward’s athleticism as he has the ability to play cornerback, nickleback and both safety positions. Gamer’s like...

Ray Lewis comments on Tom Brady and dumb New England Patriots’ fans accuse him of murder on Twitter

Since everyone these days is against, “fake news” how about New England fans educate themselves and stop calling Ray Lewis a murderer? Ray Lewis saw what we all saw during the AFC Divisional playoff game between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans tonight. Patriots QB Tom Brady gets hit and of course he proceeds to complain to the referees about why there is no flag on the play like he is notorious for doing. Tom Brady was HEATED after he didn’t get a flag on a Jadeveon Clowney tackle: https://t.co/KgeSUV5lMG pic.twitter.com/1TIB4xtXuE— SB Nation NFL (@SBNationNFL)...

Is Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger a drama king? Ray Lewis offers his thoughts on Fox Sports

Is Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger a drama king? Ray Lewis offers his thoughts on Fox Sports

Ben Roethlisberger is always hurt and the media always knows about it when some argue those injuries don’t need to be known as much. Is he really a drama king? Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis had their run-ins in their rivalry between the two teams from 2004-2012. A lot of fights, a lot of blood, a lot of helmets tossed off and a lot of close games between the Ravens and the Steelers during that time frame. Lewis knows what it is like more than most people to get ready for Roethlisberger. When Roethlisberger was injured...

ICYMI: Steve Smith Sr. takes out an ad in Baltimore Sun to thank the city for their support

Steve Smith Sr. spent the last three seasons of his 16 year career with the Baltimore Ravens being himself and adding a fire to a Ravens offense that typically isn’t always there. Through the highs and lows of the last three seasons within the Ravens organization, Smith Sr. always gave his best effort on and off the field giving back to the community. In his three seasons with the Ravens, Smith Sr. accumulated a total of 195 receptions, 2,534 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti wants Smith Sr. to return to Baltimore and he probably will return just not on the...

ICYMI: Ravens RG Marshal Yanda will not play in 2017 Pro Bowl

The 10-year veteran won’t participate among the best in the NFL this year. Baltimore Ravens right guard Marshal Yanda has decided not to play in the 2017 pro bowl due to a shoulder injury that has caused him to miss three games during the 2016 season. To put less of a load on his shoulder, the Ravens moved Yanda from right guard to left guard for the final seven games of the regular season. Yanda earlier this month as named on the Pro Football Focus all-first team as well as the Associated Press second team All-Pro. Yanda, in his 10th season in the NFL (all with the Ravens) has...

What will Greg Roman’s role be? The Baltimore Ravens are making moves on the offensive coaching staff as the team has hired former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Greg Roman. After days of hashing it out, Greg Roman has agreed to terms with the #Ravens officially. No title yet, heavy involvement in the run game— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 12, 2017 Roman has familiar history with the Ravens. From 2006-2007, he worked with the organization under former head coach Brian Billick as an offensive line assistant. Now, he’s working under head coach John Harbaugh. Roman has over...

The biggest problem the Baltimore Ravens have is winning regular season road games

The biggest problem the Baltimore Ravens have is winning regular season road games

Since 2013, the Ravens are 10-22 on the road during the regular season. You know what is funny? With all of the flaws that we discuss as it relates to the Baltimore Ravens, the team generally speaking shows up to play at home. Since 2013, the Ravens are 21-9 at home. Outside of the injury plagued 2015 season, the Ravens are 18-4 at home during this time frame (2013, 2014 and 2016 combined). With all of the criticism we have towards Ravens players, coaches and the front office, the Ravens know how to win at M&T Bank Stadium. However, on the road during the regular season, that is a...

Poll: Ravens' fans, would you trade 2012 Super Bowl trophy for a playoff appearance in each of last four seasons?

Poll: Ravens' fans, would you trade 2012 Super Bowl trophy for a playoff appearance in each of last four seasons?

The Baltimore Ravens have missed the playoffs in three out of the last four seasons with a combined record of 31-33 (including playoffs). Yes, if you are a Ravens' fan, you have seen that sentence many times since the Ravens had its playoff hopes dashed on Christmas. Knowing what you know now about the struggles the Ravens have had in the last four seasons, would you as a Ravens' fan trade the Super Bowl 47 trophy in exchange for four straight playoff appearances with zero championships to show for it? I know, some people (maybe a lot of people) will look at this headline and say it is...

How much input does Joe Flacco really have in the Ravens’ offense?

How much input does Joe Flacco really have in the Ravens’ offense?

Something doesn’t add up. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has been with the organization for nine seasons and the team has seen a lot more good with him than bad. The Ravens have had a .500 record or better in every season that Flacco has started all 16 regular season games. At worst, Flacco has the Ravens fighting for a playoff spot in the last two weeks of the regular season. Flacco is a Super Bowl champion, a Super Bowl MVP and 10th all-time in NFL playoff history in touchdown passes with 25. With 15 playoff games under his belt, Flacco has a passer rating of 88.6 which is...

Ravens organization is essentially saying that the players are the sole blame for the struggles

It looks like there will be big changes during the 2017 offseason. But that’s only on the player’s side of things. When Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh announced on Tuesday that the organization will retain offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, defensive coordinator Dean Pees and offensive line coach Juan Castillo, it is a direct shot at the players on the roster. Since 2013, the Ravens are 31-33 (including the playoffs). Yet, the coaches who have been around for that duration will pretty much stay while changes will be made to the Ravens roster. The Ravens are basically...

Opinion: Ravens should move away from 3-4 defense if Dean Pees is still defensive coordinator

Opinion: Ravens should move away from 3-4 defense if Dean Pees is still defensive coordinator

Whatever happens, the Ravens defense needs changes. Enough is enough. Let’s cut to the chase. Since Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Dean Pees was promoted to the position in 2012, the defense has had issues being creative in the way it brings pressure to the quarterback and the offensive line in passing situations. It late game situations, the defense has crumbled in the last five seasons. Since 2012, the Ravens have lost 15 games in which they had the lead in the fourth quarter and some of those games cost the Ravens a playoff spot whether you are talking about the 2013 season...
